Capitals Pick Up Win Over Coyotes- April 1, 2026The North Carolina Capitals held off a late surge from the NC Coyotes to secure a hard-fought 116–112 victory Sunday afternoon at Discovery Charter. The Capitals came out strong, building an early advantage behind a 29-point first quarter and maintaining control through halftime with a steady offensive rhythm. Their biggest push came in the third quarter, where they exploded for 34 points to create separation and take a double-digit lead into the final frame. NC Coyotes refused to go away, mounting an impressive comeback in the fourth quarter with a 39-point outburst. Fueled by aggressive scoring and transition opportunities, the Coyotes cut deep into the deficit and made it a one-possession game late, but the Capitals were able to execute down the stretch and hold on for the win. Omar Jabbi (6'2''-G-1997) led the Capitals with a dominant 30-point performance on highly efficient shooting, attacking the paint and finishing consistently. Dyron Jones (6'1''-G-1994, college: Cecil CC) added 19 points and contributed across the board, while Donovan Martinez (6'5''-G) chipped in 15 points and helped stabilize the offense. Xavier Fennell (6'4''-G, college: WSSU) provided a strong all-around effort with 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists, and Michael Mitchell) controlled the glass with 14 rebounds to go along with 11 points. For the Coyotes, Donovan Evans (5'9''-G, college: Catawba Valley) led all scorers with 31 points, knocking down perimeter shots and keeping his team within striking distance. Rico Burris) added 24 points and 11 rebounds in a physical effort inside, while Shamon Jackson (6'9''-F, college: Shaw) recorded a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Will Griffin contributed 17 points, and Mykael Faulcon added 14 points in support. Despite being outscored in the fourth quarter, the Capitals’ strong third-quarter performance and balanced scoring attack proved to be the difference. Their ability to build a cushion early ultimately allowed them to withstand the Coyotes’ late push and come away with the win.
