PrimeTime Players are five-time champs - Jun 25, 2019
It was one of the most anticipated games in East Coast Basketball League history. First-year team and unbeaten Winston-Salem Wolves (14-0) facing our-time defending champion Prime Time Players (14-1) for the ECBL championship. It was also a first-time matchup between the two teams, each their respected conference champ. In the end, experience won out as PrimeTime held off the second half comeback to win 103-99.
It was the visitors who took command early in the game leading the Wolves 28-22 after one quarter. With both teams making offensive runs that advantage was extended to 56-43 by halftime mostly behind the solid play from Sean Barnette (6'6''-F, college: Wingate) who score 21 points in the half.
A pair of threes by Chris Moore (6'2''-G, college: Charleston So.) to open the third quarter had the PrimeTime lead up to 19 before Winston-Salem would mount a charge. Just under two minutes remaining in the quarter the Wolves took their first lead of the game 75-74.
Both teams battled in the final frame with the champs building a 10-point lead only to see the home team fight back to tie the game 94-94. Playoff experience again won out in the end for PrimeTime Players who captured their fifth consecutive ECBL championship, eighth minor league title in-a-row.
Barnett led all scorers with 30 points as well as nine rebounds and six assists. Moore and Terell Smith (6'2''-G, college: Limestone) both chipped in 24 points. Odell Turner (6'7''-PF-91, college: Wingate) posted a double-double with 10 points, 11 rebounds.
