In a thrilling showdown at Kroc Hampton Roads, the Seven Cities Vets played host to the formidable Gastonia Snipers in a high-stakes matchup of the East Coast Basketball League. The evening commenced with a stirring rendition of the National Anthem performed by the talented Ms. Carleeta Cuffee, setting the stage for an electrifying game ahead. Adding to the excitement, the charismatic comedian Rondell Moore took on the role of announcer, captivating the crowd with his wit and charm. Special guests Teddy Long, WWE Hall of Fame inductee, and VCW tag team The Pinky Society graced the arena with their presence, further elevating the atmosphere with their star power. From the opening tip-off, the Gastonia Snipers wasted no time asserting their dominance, seizing control of the game early on and clinching the first quarter with a narrow lead of 25-22. Throughout the match, the Snipers exhibited a commanding performance, establishing a formidable lead of up to 20 points as they dictated the pace of play. However, undeterred by the Snipers' relentless assault, the Seven Cities Vets mounted a valiant comeback effort in the second half, narrowing the deficit to 12 points fueled by the stellar performances of Tahli Oden (6'1''-G), who poured in an impressive 35 points, and Earl Fuller (C), who dominated the boards with 15 rebounds. Despite the Vets' resilient efforts, the Snipers proved too formidable, with five of their players scoring in double figures. Warren Vinson (5'11''-PG, college: St.Andrews) emerged as the leading scorer for the Snipers, tallying an impressive 33 points to further solidify their grip on the game. As the final buzzer sounded, signaling the end of a hard-fought battle, the Seven Cities Vets found themselves on the losing end of the contest. Nevertheless, with their sights set on redemption, the Vets look ahead to their upcoming matchups on March 23 in Rocky Mount, NC, and March 24 back at the Kroc, eager to secure victories and climb their way back into the win column.
