Capitals Knock Off Warriors In Home Opener- March 10, 2023
The North Carolina Capitals kicked off it's third season in the East Coast Basketball League, with a season opener against a very strong Hampton Roads Warriors Team out of Hampton, Virginia. The Warriors came to Raleigh, NC with a 2-0 record to start the season off. From the start of the game, both teams came in with lots of energy, going back and forth exchanging baskets. At the end of the first quarter the game was tied at 28. After making a few adjustments on the defensive end and picking up pace on the offensive end, the Capitals went on a run by the half with a score of 68-59. After halftime, the Capitals came out with their foot on the gas to extend the lead after forcing a few quick turnovers. By the end of the third quarter the score was 95-83, led by the Capitals. After a very intense fourth quarter with both team competing extremely hard, the Capitals secured the win with a final score of 127-112. The Capitals was led by third year retuning player and 2022 ECBL AllStar, Omar Jabbi (6'2''-G-1997), who put on a clinic for the CAPNation Fan base. Jabbi opened the season, and filled the stat sheet with 39 points, 8 Rebounds, 5 Steals, 4 Assist, and 2 Blocks. Six Capitals were in double figures in the season opener; #32 Ian Boyd (6'4''-G-1996) (17pts), #11 Marcus Harrison (15pts), #4 Denzel Jacobson (6'4''-G) (15pts), #3 Dyron Jones (6'1''-G-1994, college: Cecil CC) (14pts), and rookie #10 Cameron Martin (6'3''-G-1997, college: NC-Wesleyan) (12pts). Veteran Corey Evans (6'3''-SG, college: CCU) finished with 8pts. |
