PrimeTime Players Clinch Conference Top Seed- May 25, 2022
The PrimeTime Players hosted the Charlotte Tribe this past Saturday at Legion Collegiate Academy in a rematch of a game the Tribe won at home two weeks ago 133-114. The Tribe came into the game having won 10 of their last 11 games including 7 straight and PrimeTime had won two in a row since the last loss to the Tribe and the winner of this game would be guaranteed a first round bye and the Southern Conference Regular Season Championship. The first quarter started off with Chris Moore (6'2''-G-1986, college: Charleston So.) scoring 14 pts in the first quarter for the host and starting Bid Men Trevor Booker (6'8''-F-1987, college: Clemson) and Odell Turner (6'2''-G-1991, college: Wingate) also combined for another 16, but the Tribe made a nice push at the end of the quarter behind debuting Akea Pruitt and Ty-Shon Alexander (6'4''-G-1998, college: Creighton) who combined for 20 points as PrimeTime led 38-31 at the end of the 1st. The second quarter the Tribe stormed back and took the lead with Junior Robinson setting up David Tripp (6'5''-F, college: Milligan) and Alexander for numerous open looks at the basket as they combined for 24 points in the quarter including 6 made three pointers. Sean Barnette (6'6''-F-1986, college: Wingate) contributed 13 in the quarter for PrimeTime and both teams went into the half with 74. The third quarter saw teams play even through the entire quarter with both teams taking a lead but neither leading by more than 4 points, Alexander had another big quarter for the Tribe Scoring 14 in the quarter, and PrimeTime Sean Barnette and Trevor Booker combined for 21 of their team 32 in the quarter. The final quarter started with PrimeTime up by as many as 9 points before back to back layups by Ricardo Glenn (6'8''-C-1990, college: USC Upstate, agency: Interperformances) cut the lead to 116-115 forcing the host to call a timeout. After the timeout Trevor Booker scored 11 over the last 7 minutes and Barnette again had a big quarter adding 10 down the stretch as PrimeTime was able to hold off the Tribe win the Southern Conference to seed and regular season championship. |
