Season 7 of the East Coast Basketball League came to a conclusion last weekend with two long-time foes meeting in the championship game. PrimeTime Players, the only champion the league has ever known, took on a surprising North Carolina Coyotes squad who won four straight to reach the championship game. The two teams played a thriller with PrimeTime Players coming out on top 130-128.

North Carolina Coyotes surprised many with their late season run to the championship game. After a 5-7 regular season the squad based in Durham entered the Mid-South playoffs as the four-seed. Wins against Rowan County Bulls, North Carolina Capitals and Petersburg Cavaliers propelled the team to their first conference title in team history.

On paper the matchup with PrimeTime looked to be a longshot, but the Coyotes proved their run was no fluke as they went toe-to-toe for 48 minutes with the champs. Trailing by two with :22 on the clock Coyotes guard Aaron Dawson (SG) drove to the basket only to be denied by Trevor Booker (6'8''-F-87, college: Clemson). Chris Moore (6'2''-G-86, college: Charleston So.) was fouled and sank a pair of free throws in the final seconds to seal the victory.

Booker led the way on both ends scoring a team-best 29 points and 20 rebounds. The former NBA mainstay added seven assists along with three steals and two blocked shots.

The veteran Moore, who was named playoff MVP, scored 27 while dishing out 11 assists and six rebounds. In two playoff games Moore scored scored 64 points, 16 rebounds and 22 assists.

Six of seven players in the PrimeTime lineup scored in double-figures including Van Turner Jr. (6'1''-G, college: Queens, NC) (25 points, six rebounds) and Ricardo Glenn (6'8''-C-90, college: USC Upstate) with 11 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Lysander Bracey (6'4''-G-96, college: Hampton) and James Murray (6'0''-PG, college: Sandhills CC) chipped in with 16 points each.
