The Philly Cannons entered the fourth quarter down 93-90 to the Hub City Hogs in their home opener. Fueled by nine three-point baskets in the last period alone, the Cannons were able to pull away from the Hogs and capture their first-ever victory in the East Coast Basketball League 136-118.

Although Philly hit eighteen three-point baskets altogether, that may not have been the key to securing the win.

'In the fourth quarter we began to lockdown on defense and started playing as a team, as a unit,' said Assistant Coach Duane Haney.

Marcus Thomas (G) had a Cannons franchise record 65 points on 25-of-39 from the field, including 8-of-17 from beyond the arc. Guards Todd Hughes (6'3''-G-95, college: Virginia Union) (21), Tyree Tucker (6'4''-G, college: Cent.Penn) (20), and Isaiah Wilmore (19) along with forward Kyle Rose (11) also reached double figures.

Hub City was led by Mike Henderson (6'3''-F) 24 points and Ricky Council II (6'5''-G-95) with 20. Willie McDowell (5'11''-PG, college: Wilson)l (18), Sharif Welton (6'7''-G) (15), and Jamal Bland (6'2''-G) (14) also reached double figures for the Hogs, who will face the Cannons two more times next month.

Philly are back at home Sunday, March 21, 2021 to face the Plaistow Shockers. Tip-off is 1:00 PM.
