The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Bobcats (17-5) in Owensboro on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by second ranked Thoroughbreds (15-7) 123-119. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Bobcats. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Thoroughbreds shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 63.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Bobcats' players. Guard Michael Davenport (196-89, college: St.Bonaventure) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 13 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and Nigerian center Chukwuma Ogbodo (206-93, college: UNCW) chipped in 27 points, 11 rebounds and 6 blocks (on 12-of-13 shooting from the field). Davenport is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was guard Derek Hawthorne Jr (190-97, college: UT Martin) with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Johnathan Loyd (173-91, college: Oregon) scored 19 points and 4 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Thoroughbreds have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain second place with 15-7 record having four points less than leader Syracuse S. Bobcats at the other side still keep top position with five games lost. Thoroughbreds will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Bobcats will play at home against United and are hoping to win this game.
