There was a minor upset when their close opponent Titans (8-9) lost to sixth ranked Firebirds (7-8) in Raleigh 114-123 on Saturday. Firebirds made 31-of-39 free shots (79.5 percent) during the game, while Titans only scored fifteen points from the stripe. Titans were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Forward Shaquille Dance (193-93, college: Limestone) orchestrated the victory by scoring 30 points and 8 rebounds. Forward Tony Farmer (201-94, college: Lee JC) contributed with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Forward Trevor Recio (201-97, college: Rollins) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 14 rebounds and 9 assists and guard Tray Boyd III (193-98, college: ETSU) added 23 points and 6 assists in the effort for Titans. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Firebirds moved-up to third place, which they share with California SK. Titans lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with nine games lost. Firebirds will have a break next round. Titans will play against Lions (#8) and hope to win that game.
