Regular Season Round 9: Ottawa - Montreal 83-86

There was a minor upset in Ottawa where 6th ranked Blackjacks (4-5) were edged by ninth ranked Alliance (4-6) 86-83 on Thursday. Alliance made 26-of-28 free shots (92.9 percent) during the game. American Ahmed Hill (196-1995, college: Virginia Tech) stepped up and scored 32 points and 5 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) for the winners and Haitian-Canadian guard Alain Louis (185-1998, college: Carleton) chipped in 11 points and 9 assists. The best for the losing side was Sudanese-Australian forward Deng Adel (201-1997, college: Louisville, agency: Verus Management) with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and American power forward Zena Edosomwan (206-1993, college: Harvard) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Blackjacks' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Alliance maintains ninth place with 4-6 record. Blackjacks lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. They share it with Vancouver. Alliance will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Blackjacks will play against River Lions (#6) in Niagara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
