No. 1 American captures 2017-18 Championship title - Mar 12, 2018

American junior guard Cecily Carl (6'3''-F) produced 20 points in the teams' 58-49 win, as the top-seeded Eagles defeated No. 3 Navy in the Patriot League Women's Basketball Championship Game at Bender Arena, claiming an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The Eagles nabbed their first Patriot League title since the 2014-15 season when they defeated Lehigh 66-50. Carl added eight rebounds and two blocks to her 20 points. Emily Kinneston (5'8''-G) tallied 14 points, nine rebounds, five assists, one steal, and one block while Maria Liddane (5'8''-G) scored eight points, grabbed four boards and dished three assists. Twelve of Kinneston's 14 points came after halftime as the team rallied from a 23-24 halftime score. As a team, the Eagles went 18-for-21 (.857) from the free throw line.
The Navy Midshipmen were led by Taylor Dunham (5'4''-G) who scored 14 points and tallied four rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Bianca Roach (5'7''-G) finished the game with nine points and three rebounds while Kaila Clark (5'11''-F) pulled down 11 boards to go with seven points and four blocks. Hannah Fenske (5'8''-G) tabbed eight steals with eight points and five rebounds. As a team, the Mids went 7-of-11 (.636) from the free throw line.
