The Los Angeles Sparks signed 33-year old Belgian international 5-8 point guard Julie Vanloo. She is the second foreign player in the roster, with Nigerian Nneka Ogwumike signing earlier. Vanloo is making a comeback to Sparks, having played here before. She most recently played at CBK Mersin in the Turkish KBSL. Vanloo played in three leagues last year, showcasing her skills at different levels. In 15 KBSL games, she averaged 10.0ppg, 4.0rpg, 6.9apg, and 1.1spg. She helped her team reach the Supercup final and league semifinals. Vanloo had a standout season, earning Eurobasket.com All-Turkish League Honorable Mention, All-Bosmans Team, and League Player of the Week honors. In Euroleague, she played 6 games with averages of 11.7ppg, 2.8rpg, and 4.8apg. Additionally, she contributed in 7 Eurocup games with 4.7ppg, 2.9rpg, and 7.0apg.
Part of last summer she spent between Sparks. The other team she played during was another WNBA team Golden State Valkyries.
Vanloo has been a member of the Belgian international program for some years. She has regularly played for the Belgian senior team since 2009 and previously for the Under 20 National Team in 2013.
Vanloo also represented Belgium at the FIBA Olympic Games in Paris (France) two years ago. Her team reached the Semifinals, and she averaged 14 points per game.
Vanloo is a very experienced player. She has traveled extensively during her pro career, playing in ten different countries on three different continents (Europe, Australia, and North America). Vanloo has played previously in Australia (Townsville Fire), France (Mondeville, Basket Lattes Montpellier Agglomeration, and Lyon), Hungary (PEAC-Pecs), Italy (Ragusa and Moncalieri), Russia (Enisey), Spain (Zaragoza), Sweden (Lulea Basket), the WNBA team Washington Mystics, and Belgium (Waregem, Ieper, and Young Cats).
Between 2023 and 2025, her team was regular season runner-up in the Turkish League. She received the Eurobasket.com All-EuroCup European Player of the Year award in 2023.
