The Indiana Fever have acquired Katie Samuelson, a 26-year-old former USA-British international 6-3 forward from UConn, for the upcoming season. Samuelson previously played for the LA Sparks last summer.
In 2019, the Chicago Sky selected her as the fourth overall pick in the WNBA draft.
She graduated from the University of Connecticut, and this will be her sixth season in professional basketball.
She was also a member of the USA international program for several years. She played for the USA Senior National Team from 2019 to 2020 and had previously played for the Under 19 National Team in 2015.
She also represented the USA at the U17 Women's World Championships in the Czech Republic ten years ago. Her team won the Gold medal, and her statistics for that event were as follows: 7 games played, 13.9 points per game, 5.0 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.0 spg, field goal percentage (FGP) of 53.3%, 3-point percentage (3PT) of 40.4%, and free throw percentage (FT) of 80.0%.
She has also played professionally in France for the Flammes, in Spain for Avenida, and for other WNBA teams such as the Dallas Wings and Seattle Storm.
In 2022, she won the Spanish LF Endesa championship title and was also selected as the Eurobasket.com All-Spanish LF Endesa Forward of the Year.
