Curt Pickering has just informed Usbasket.com that five moths ago the 2013 WCBL season ended with another win of his Santa Barbara Breakers team.
The WCBL started its regular season earlyer this year, in late February, because league officials were able to obtain a good gym in Los Angeles, something that is always a challenge. In consequence, the eight teams registered srtarted the playoff phas ein March and the decisive game had been played on Sunday, March 31, 2013
In this WCBL Championsho Game, the Breakers defeated the Venice Beach Warriors 94-91.
The Warriors held an 86-83 lead with just under 3 minutes to play in the game. Gerard Anderson (6'6''-F-87, college: CS Fullerton) provided the clutch drive to the basket from the left side and was fouled. He converted the free throw to tie the game and the Breakers finished out the game on a 8-5 run to claim the Crown.
During that final run, Larry Dew (6'1"-G) came up with two steals, one off an inbounds pass by the Warriors and a second one at the top of the key which produced his own dunk at the other end. Thanks to these actions, he was named Defensive Player of the Game. He garnered 4 steals, 3 assists and 12 points off the bench for the Breakers
Game scoring leaders were Anderson with 24 points, followed by William Funn (6'2''-G-82, college: Portland St.) 17 and Malcolm Campbell (6'10''-C-89, college: Warner) 17
