The Alabama Reignn earns second win in franchise history as well as being 2-0 in regional play. The Alabama Reign started slow and but eventually manage to get on track as they moved to 2-0 in regional play and the season. Coach Davis stated that he was not pleased with the effort and focus of his team in the first three minutes. 'I called a timeout and let them understand that we need to get it together before it's too late'. The rest was history. The Alabama Reign went on a 12 to 3 run and ended the quarter with a double-digit lead. The Gulf Coast Tropics was short-handed but was a very discipline and feisty team as stated by Coach Davis. Davis also explained that because of his rotating bench and the use of each girl on his team, it makes a difference. 'The word team means a whole lot. When everyone is engaged, working hard and the only thing that matters is being as one, skies the limit' stated Davis. Then Alabama Reign had it going defensively with 16 steals and at least 8 deflections. Shelby Williams (5'6 Guard - Faulkner University) posted 10pts, 8ast, 3rebs. Rashida Young (5'10 Forward - Concordia College-Selma) while averaging a double-double in the league led all scorers with 14pts, 5rebs. Jade Gibbs (6'1 Forward - Birmingham-Southern College), Rachel Brown (5'9''-F) along with a few others gave us great minutes off the bench. The Alabama Reignn bench posted a total of 40 plus points. That is excellent as far as I'm concerned as Davis smiled. On another note, Davis was very upset at the fact that his team has times where there get of track and have defensive mental lapse. 'We as a team have to be better to put together a 40 min game". "We had unforced turnovers that was very disturbing to our coaching staff." We didn't rebound the ball as good as I know we could.
