The Berkeley College women's basketball team suffered a defeat on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Bobcats of Bryant & Stratton-Syracuse by a score of 58-45. The game took place at CCNY's Nat Holman Gymnasium in Upper Manhattan. With the defeat, the Knights dipped to a mark of 6-8 on the 2023-2024 campaign, while the Bobcats improved to a record of 7-4. Prior to the game, the Berkeley College Department of Athletics took a few moments to honor seniors Denise Maldonado-Jones and Cherokee Wheeler in a heartfelt ceremony. Both student-athletes were presented with commemorative basketballs and trophies by President Diane Recinos, Vice President of Student Development and Campus Life Sherrille T. Shabazz Ed.D., and Head Women's Basketball Coach Candice DeRisi. Despite the loss for the Knights, Trinity Sierra lead for the way for Berkeley, as she scored a team-high 12 points while snatching seven rebounds and registering a steal. Cherokee Wheeler nearly recorded a double-double, as she scored 10 points while puling down nine rebounds, tying for the game-high of three steals, and swatting a game-high three shows. Za'Nya Henderson netted eight points. Berkeley will return to action on Tuesday evening, as the Knights will battle Yeshiva University in a game at Baruch College's ARC Arena. Start-time is scheduled for 6:00pm.
