It truly was a Maine made win on Saturday, November 4, 2023, as the UMA Moose would open the season holding off the talented Bryant & Stratton - Albany Bobcats, 69 - 61. The Moose would tip-off with Alicen Higgens, Elizabeth Crommett, and Brianna Poulin, all graduates from Lawrence High School, along side Monmouth High School graduate Kaeti Butterfield (6'0''-F) and Sterns graduate Alisyn Alley. "What we have and who we represent is something really special." Coach Cowan said. "This team is so hungry to prove what we can do, and to watch it come together is something you don't want to miss." Sage Fortin, a freshman Cony High School graduate, came off the bench to lead the Moose with 19pts, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists, followed by Brianna Poulin with 15pts, 10 rebounds, 2 assists, and Alisyn Alley, 11pts, 3 rebounds, and 8 assists. The Moose were strong from the line shooting 75% and hard on the boards with a 40 rebound team effort. The Bobcats did not go down without a fight as they clawed their way back from a 37 - 21 halftime deficit, but the UMA Moose herd was to strong. Catch the Moose next for the home opener at the Augusta Civic Center on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 6pm vs the SMCC Seawolves.
