Winona Lake, IN: Southwestern Christian University (SCU) claimed its first-ever NCCAA Division I Women's Basketball National Championship as they took down No. 5 Oakland City University 68-55. The Eagles opened the game strong offensively scoring 31 points in the first quarter of play hitting 4-of-4 from behind the arch. Things slowed down and evened out in the second quarter, however, the Eagle's first quarter push would put them up 47-31 at the break led by Thamires Andrade (5'10''-G)'s 20 points. Oakland City took the third quarter outscoring the Eagles 13-6, but SCU's big first quarter would prove to be too much for the Mighty Oaks to overcome. The Eagle's scoring was led by Andrade who tallied 29 total points, followed by Tresha Yager (5'4''-PG) who had 13 points on the night.
The No. 6 seeded Eagles jumped out to a 40-24 halftime lead against host and No. 3 Grace College, ultimately winning the first-round matchup 73-60. Thamires Andrade was a force for the Eagles, scoring a game-high 30 points to go along with 5 rebounds, 6 assists, and 3 steals. Christina Jenkins finished with a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds in the win. SCU then defeated No. 2 Asbury University 76-55 in the semifinals. Tresha Yager led the Eagles with 25 points, while Andrade nearly had a triple-double with 22 points, 13 rebounds, and 8 assists.
