Faatimah Amen-Ra Named WUBA Rookie Of The Year

ATLANTA, Dec. 24, 2020 - East Bay Splash guard Faatimah Amen-Ra (5'4''-G-91, college: MCC Toronto, agency: DC Sports) has been named the 2020 WUBA Rookie of the Year, the leagued announced today. She is the first player not born in the USA to win the award, which was first given out in 2012. Amen-Ra A was selected in the first round (12thpick overall) in the 2020 WUBA Draft presented by Beautiful Ballers on October 1.

Amen-Ra A received 14 votes from a national panel of 17 sportswriters and owners. Southern Generals guard Alexis Brown (5'6''-G, college: Georgia South) finished second with two votes and Oklahoma Outlaws guard Addy Clift (5'7''-G-96, college: Oklah.Christian) was third with one vote.

She is the first player in Western Conference franchise history to be named Rookie of the Year.

Amen-Ra A, ranked 11thin the WUBA in scoring (16.2 ppg, pacing the Splash) and first in assists (5.9apg) while starting 9 of her 9 regular-season games and logging 34.0 minutes per contest.

She scored in double figures in 8 of 9 games, including a season-high 25 points against the Western Conference champion NorCal Raiders on Nov. 8. She finished the season with three 20-point games and handed out four or more assists in 8 contests.

Amen-Ra A also was the WUBA Rookie of the Month for October and November.

The Splash finished with the second-best record (6-3) in the league behind NorCal Raiders.

The Splash selected Amen-Ra A with the idea that she would play a major role for the National Super League this summer of the WUBA. The Super League is regarded as the best women's league in the USA.

In honor of being named the 2020 WUBA Rookie of the Year, Amen-Ra A will receive a specially designed trophy by the League office.

Amen-Ra A finishes her 6th season professional. She has professional experience in Norway, Greece, France and El Salvador.
