Shawn Ward
The Universal Basketball Association (UBA) announced today that it has added the Atlanta Savage out of Atlanta, GA to its growing list of expansion teams for the 2018-2019 season. 'We're very excited that Certified Hoops Training is in management this season,' stated UBA commissioner Michael Davis. The team will managed by Certified Hoops LLC based out of Atlanta, GA. Shawn Ward has been appointed head coach and General Manager of the Savage this coming season.

'I'm very excited to be teaming up with the Savage,' added Ward. We want to provide these players with an opportunity to move on to the next leave. We feel the UBA has a track record of just that.

Shawn Ward has been a head coach in the ABA for the last 3 seasons for the Atlanta Wildcats. This will be his first season in the Universal Basketball Association.

"Our organization prides itself on professionalism and community service", said Ward. Our first order of business is drafting well. Without a question we will look to add Marqis Barnes as our lead guard. Leadership will be key for an expansion club in the UBA.

Marquis Barnes (6'0''-G-86, college: Gordon CC); a native of Buffalo, New York isn't a stranger to the South. He played his college basketball in Georgia for Gordon College. As a senior he averaged an impressive 17.3 points per game along with 4.1 assists. Barnes would later sign in the PBL with the Buffalo 716ers followed by the Nottingham Hoods (NBL). He will be eligible for the 2018 UBA draft December 1, 2018.

The Savage will play in the UBA Southern Conference along with the Georgia Vipers, GIE Maile Matrix, Atlanta Legends, Georgia Spartans and Atlanta Blaze.
