J. D. Barnes hired as Chabibeh Chiyah head coach - Aug 17, 2017

Owner Fadi Tabet have announced that former International All-Star J.D. Barnes is the new head coach of their Lebanese First Division, Chabibeh Club. Barnes served as an head coach with the GIE Lady Matrix (WUBA) last season. He replaces Zoran Visic (agency: Promotex ), who was named to the India National Team' coaching staff (head coach).

'We are very excited to name J.D. Barnes our new head coach,' said Chabibeh General Manager, Fadi Tabet. 'The basketball pedigree that he brings to Lebanon is as good as it gets in the First Division. We believe that his experience as a successful professional player along with his years of experience coaching in various FIBA Asia Cups will go a long way in helping teach the young players within our system what it takes to thrive at the next level.'

'I am honored to have the opportunity and challenge to lead our club,' said Barnes. 'I appreciate the confidence Fadi Tabet (owner) have shown in me to continue the development of our younger players.'

Barnes played 10 seasons in the professionally in over 11 countries. In 2012 he won a Silver Medal at the William Jones Cup in Taiwan. The summer of 2014 Barnes was invited to Minnesota Timberwolves training camp. After a great career as a professional player; Barnes has coach in the US minor leagues (WUBA), Williams Jones Cup (Taiwan), Copa Mitchell Cup (Dominican Republic and Mediterranean Cup (Spain). He was named Eurobasket.com All-MCC Coach of the Year in Barcelona, Spain.
