The 2017 International Mediterranean Cup of Champions Invitational Tournament will be held from June 1-5, a Spain basketball official said Thursday.

The MCC event will take place in Barcelona, Spain at the Palau Josep Mora Unio Esportiva Mataro gymnasium and will host six women's teams.

"The MCC will become an annual international tournament for Spain and America," said Jesus Murat, MMC board member. "This will be a good time for all clubs to see American talent and improve our locals in the off-season."

Among the women's teams participating are local favorites Lima Horta Barcelona (LF2), Unio Esportiva Mataro (Copa), Segle XXI Bercelona (LF2), Joventut Les Corts Barcelona (Copa), GIE Lady Matrix (WUBA-US) and the Southern Lady Generals (WUBA-US).

Murat voiced that he expects the Unio Esportiva Mataro team to be the top box office draw, as usual, since they are the hosting team in Spain and have a long known history of being very passionate about the sport of basketball having had very impressive youth groups throughout the years.

"Moreover, the WUBA teams were selected to bring in a high level of competition and give an opportunity to get more Americans exposure in Europe. I think the team will be highly competitive," Murat said.

Adria Castejon will coach the local Unio Esportiva Mataro club. Copa All-Star and All-Import Team member Marquisha Harris (182-C-93, college: W.Michigan) will star for Unio Esportiva Mataro this June.
