UBA Classic Fueled by RedBull Results

Atlanta Legends holds off Carolina Heat 84-67 in RedBull Classic

Legends couldn't get Tony Omotayo (6'5''-G/F-85, college: Ft.Valley St.) going early, David Malone was fighting his shot and the 5th-ranked Legends found themselves in a battle versus the Columbia Heat. Their response? Cut down on turnovers, frustrate Heat defensively and grind out the tough baskets, a formula that helped Atlanta hold off the Heat 84-67 on Saturday in the opening round of the RedBull Classic. "When your in a battle like it was early in the game; you have to focus on the defense", said coach Martin. 2016 UBA Slam Dunk Champion Dante Turnipseed (6'0''-PG-90, college: Tenn Wesleyan) was named the RedBull Classic MVP after he tailed 22 points and 5 assists. Tony Omotayo added 20 points and 8 rebounds in the win. Anton Greer was the highlight for the Heat scoring a team high 20 points along with 5 rebounds.

Maxey, Chandler lead Matrix to win over Elite, 100-77

Maxey finished with 12 rebounds, as he and Chandler was named RedBull Classic Co-MVPs. Jermaine Barnes (6'4''-G/F-83, college: Point, GA, agency: Gamble Sports Management) started his return to the UBA on fire scoring 12 points in the first quarter. Barnes finished the game with 22 points and 7 rebounds in his Matrix debut. "It was great to get back out there with my team again", said Barnes. Just thank God for all the small things. In 2014 Barnes suffered a career ending leg injury which focused him to call it quits. The Matrix are looking strong headed into the regular season. The will face the Atlanta Legends Jan. 7, 2017.
