Damian Dixon
Welcome to the 2016 TRBL season was the message the Cary Invasion delivered to the Cobras' Basketball Club Greensboro when the two met for their first and only time this year. It was the late-starting Cobra's first game of the Tobacco Road Basketball League's season, while the 107-93 win by the Invasion upped their season won-loss to 10-7. From the floor Cary and the Cobra's put the ball up 76 and 74 times respectively, while Cary outscored the Cobras at the line shooting 77% to their 57%. Yet both teams' performance regarding assists, rebounding, fouls and turnovers matched almost evenly. For the Cobras, team high-scorer Damian Dixon (6'1''-G, college: Greensboro) totaled 21-points with five of them threes; Parris Scales (6'7''-F) and William Peay each added 16-points; Eric Mayo contributed 13-points; and Jamal Mitchell scored in doubt digits with 12-points. As for Cary, it was the Invasion's lightening fast guards-JJ Barbee (19), Raheem Jalliffe (16), and Mike Smith-scoring a combined 45-points, while newest Invasion utility man Oswinn Hines contributed 16-points (8 of them from the line) in this his first game. But the game high scorer was power forward Rodney Callwood (6'7''-F, college: Shaw) who matched his performance of a week ago, once again adding 24-points to the Invasions' total. Rodney shot 63% from the floor and 100% at the line, and when defending with teammates Anton Currie and Charles Ward the trio acted like 'beasts' under the baskets, accounting for more than half of the team's rebounds. End of the 1st Cary led by 3; at the half Cary led by 4; end of the 3rd Cary led by 10, and at the final buzzer it was Cary 107, Cobras 93. The next scheduled game for the Cobras (0-1) will be on the following evening when they entertain the Auburn Elite (4-3). The Cary Invasion (10-7) will be taking Easter weekend off but will return in two weeks to host the West Division leading Huntersville (7-4) at home for the teams third match-up of the season. Huntersville leads the series 2-0.

Bull City Legacy outgun Cary Invasion - 2 Years ago
As is tradition, arch rivals the Cary Invasion and the Bull City Legacy opened their respective seasons last Saturday, this time in Durham at Voyager Academy and, in what has become their tradition, both teams gave those attending a show. These two teams really don't care for each other much, but that they do respect each other's game is apparent. This due, in part, to both teams carrying players on their rosters who used to play for the other team. While, too, many of them have been team...   [read more]

The defending champions, the Raleigh Revolt, come into the game having only lost once this season against the visiting Auburn Pro-Elite. That loss brought to an end a 17 ga...   [read more]
