If you miss this semi-professional basketball game between the little city of Huntersville and the powerhouse of Cary, you miss a good game! This game will be talked about until they meet again.
In terms of average height, Cary Invasion boasts 6'11 while Huntersville's average is 6'3. On paper you would have thought the Huntersville Hoopforlyfe team would not stand a chance against Cary invasion. Right from the tipoff, both teams came out swinging; trading baskets for baskets with neither team backing down. At the half, Cary was up 51 to Huntersville 49.
Huntersville turned up the defense and started focusing on those small but necessary elements to take control of the game: boxing out, rebounding, and controlling the glass. What we witnessed could be likened to the old story of David and Goliath. Huntersville Hoopforlyfe struck the first blow, with Jamal Durham (18 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 blocks) delivering a 'monster dunk' over 6'11 Raheem Odhodi to spark Huntersville on a run. Emilio Parks was on fire, leading all scorers for Huntersville with 38 points and 7 rebounds; and the floor General Dijuan Harris dished out 11 dimes and grabbed 10 rebounds to help push Huntersville to the lead 77 to Cary 69 going into the 3rd.
Cary was not going down without a fight. Calling on their captain Paul Wright, who ended the game with 36 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 assists, single-handedly picked apart Huntersville's defense by scoring from outside the acre and getting to the basket at will. This helped Cary regain the lead, 82 to Huntersville 81 with four minutes left in the 4th. Huntersville's Coach Tori New had to call a time to slow down the hot shooting by Paul Wright. Still in the zone, Paul Wright changed up his game by getting Rondeny Callwood the ball who ended the game with 15 points and 14 rebounds along with JJ Barbee 14 points and 8 assists. Even with the great come back by Cary, it still was not enough to stop Huntersville from stealing the win 101 to 99. Huntersville Hoopforlyfe remains the powerhouse team of the West with a 7-4 record and will be traveling to an undefeated 9-0 Raleigh Revolt to face the powerhouse team of the East this Saturday March 12th on their home court. This game will be one of the biggest games in the TRBL and these teams will be meeting for the 1st time in 4 years of the league.

Bull City Legacy outgun Cary Invasion - 3 Years ago
As is tradition, arch rivals the Cary Invasion and the Bull City Legacy opened their respective seasons last Saturday, this time in Durham at Voyager Academy and, in what has become their tradition, both teams gave those attending a show. These two teams really don't care for each other much, but that they do respect each other's game is apparent. This due, in part, to both teams carrying players on their rosters who used to play for the other team. While, too, many of them have been team...   [read more]
