The Keuka College Women's Basketball team lost to St. John Fisher University 83-31 on Tuesday at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center. Keuka College (1-16, 0-9 Empire 8) was led by Sydney Brown (5'8''-G) (Lowville, N.Y. / Lowville Academy) with eight points. Janea Hamilton-Brown (5'5''-G) (Liverpool, N.Y. / Liverpool) added seven for the Wolves. It was a slow start for both teams as defense dictated the game early on. A jumper by Caiden Crego (Lyons, N.Y. / Lyons), assisted by Katie Deatherage (5'6''-G) (Canandaigua, N.Y. / Marcus Whitman), cut the early Fisher lead to 6-4. However, the Cardinals scored the next 13 points to build a 19-7 lead. Sydney Brown snapped the run with a three, but St. John Fisher led 21-7 after the first. Brown kept the shooting going as she hit a three on Keuka's first possession of the second half, but the Cardinals went on another 13-0 run to widen their lead. Maddie Kramer (5'8''-F) (Ringtown, Pa. / Nativity BVM) got a second-chance layup to stop the run. The Cardinals led 42-16 at the half. The Wolves came out fast as Katie Deatherage made a pair of layups to open the scoring in the frame. St. John Fisher responded with 11 straight before Janea Hamilton-Brown hit a pair of free throws for the Wolves. Hamilton-Brown later had a personal 5-0 run as she scored all seven of her points in the third quarter. The Cardinals put the game away in the fourth, holding Keuka College without a basket until Meghan Ellis (5'10''-F) (Cobleskill, N.Y. / Cobleskill-Richmondville) made a basket with 2:48 left in the frame. St. John Fisher would go on to defeat the Wolves 83-31.
