Harrisburg Claims Second-Straight Title - Feb 28, 2022
Penn State Harrisburg defeated Lancaster Bible College, 85-52, Saturday afternoon earning the Lions the title of United East Men's Basketball Champions. With the win, Harrisburg improves to 23-3 on the season and earns the conference's automtaic qualifier into the 2021-22 NCAA Championship.
After exchanging buckets over the first few minutes, Harrisburg went on a 22-4 run through a middle stretch that gave the Lions a commanding lead. The Chargers chipped away through the final three minutes of the stanza but would still trail, 39-28, at the half.
Coming out of the intermission, the Lions went back on the offensive expanding their lead to 20 over the first five minutes. The offensive pressure was too much for Lancaster Bible to overcome and Harrisburg would go on to win its second-straight men's basketball title.
Leading the way for Penn State Harrisburg was Tournament Most Valuable Player, Nathaniel Curry (6'3''-G), who went 11-13 from the field and dumped in a team-high 25 points. His talents were accompanied by Donyae Baylor-Carroll (5'7''-PG), who registered 23 points as well as six assists. As a team, the Lions shot over 56% from the field on the night.
Seth Beers (5'10''-PG) and Jordan Shewbridge (6'0''-PG) were the main sources of offense for the Chargers as they finished with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
