Husson University (21-7) pulled away in the second half to defeat Vermont State University – Johnson (11-17), 90-59, in the 2025 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Mens Basketball Championship at Newman Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Eagles secured their 10th NAC Championship and clinched the conferences automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA DIII Mens Basketball Tournament, which begins Friday, March 7. The full tournament bracket will be unveiled during a live selection show on NCAA.com on Monday, March 3. For VTSU-Johnson, the loss brings their 2025 season to a close. HOW IT HAPPENED: The first half was tightly contested, with the conference rivals exchanging the lead twice and battling through three ties. Neither team built a lead larger than seven points until the final minute, when freshman Connor Heald (6'4''-G) (Lakewood Ranch, Fla.) and graduate Jeremy Moronta (6'1''-G) (Brooklyn, N.Y.) buried back-to-back three-pointers, sending the hosts into halftime with a 37-28 advantage. However, Husson took over down the stretch, rattling off a dominant 25-7 run over the next seven minutes. Moronta capped the surge with a layup at the 2:51 mark, extending the Eagles lead to 26 (83-57).
