The St. Norbert College men's basketball team will once again represent the Midwest Conference (MWC) in the NCAA Tournament after they beat Carroll University, 71-69, in the MWC Tournament finale. It looked as though St. Norbert would cruise to another double digit victory at the Schuldes Sports Center, but the Pioneers would not go quietly. Trailing by 11 with just 1:44 remaining in the game, Carroll went on a quick 15-4 run, capped by a Tyler Diehl (6'4''-G/F) step-back three-pointer that tied the score at 69 with just seven second showing on the clock. The Green Knights Mitchell Reinthaler (6'4''-F) had already gone 9-of-10 at the line so far in the game and drew contact again just one second after Diehl's game-tying bucket. Reinthaler calmly knocked down both freebies to give the Green Knights the winning margin. St. Nobert led by four at halftime, 31-27, and widened the margin to as many as 15 in the second half before Carroll almost pulled off the amazing comeback. Reinthaler finished with 15 points, with 11 coming from the charity stripe. D.J. Devalk (5'10''-PG) led all scorers with 20 points on 7-of-15 shooting and Terrence Garner (6'4''-G) had a solid floor game with 10 points, seven assists and four boards. Carroll was led by Joel Heesch (6'2''-G) who had 18 points and eight rebounds, while Kyle Keranen (6'2''-G), Bryan Nagy (6'7''-F) and Nick Lange (6'6''-F) all had 11 each. With the victory, St. Norbert won their fourth straight MWC Tournament title and will be making another trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Pioneers will wait to see their fate on Monday and must receive an at-large berth to the dance for their season to continue.
