Mary Washington Claims CAC Championship - Mar 9, 2014

Mary Washington defeated visiting Christopher Newport 65-48 to claim the 2014 CAC Men's Basketball Championship on Saturday at the Anderson Center in Fredericksburg, Va. The victory marks the second CAC crown for the Eagles, and first since the 2002-03 season.
With the win, Mary Washington earns the CAC's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. NCAA postseason selections will be announced on Monday at 12:30 p.m.
The Eagles, seeded second in the CAC Tournament and ranked 17th in the nation by D3hoops.com, broke open a close game with a late 12-2 to top the fifth-seeded Captains and cap off their championship ride through the postseason.
UMW's Bradley Riester led all scorers with 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting, including 4-of-5 from three-point land. Taylor Johnson tallied 11 points and seven rebounds, while Dylan Farinet added 11 points and six rebounds.
CNU was led by Tim Daly and Mike Cherry, who each notched 10 points in the defeat.
