Fayetteville State men's basketball had a long night in a 68-52 loss to CIAA cross-divisional opponent Bowie State in Capel Arena. The Bulldogs, who improved its overall record to 10-8 and 5-1 in CIAA play, began the game with a 10-3 advantage and led by five (21-16) at the under-10 media timeout. BSU reached its first double digit lead at 33-22 with 3:59 to go and took a comfortable 40-25 advantage into the locker room at halftime. "We came out tonight and got off to a slow start," said Broncos Head Coach Ken Spencer . "We didn't execute offensively the way we needed to execute. We had progressed a lot on the boards, but then tonight, you get beat by 15+ on the boards, it's going to be a long night for us." Fayetteville State (2-11 overall, 1-5 CIAA) struggled throughout the game on the boards losing a 39-24 advantage to the Bulldogs. Markeise Crutchfield (6'3''-F) led the Broncos with 14 points and Will Brown (6'10''-C) was responsible for ten. They both had five rebounds each. Denzell Hosch (6'0''-PG) and Nakia Rivers (6'3''-G) combined for 16 points in the loss. Rinardo Perry shot a game-high 22 points for Bowie State to go along with Yohance Fleming (6'7''-F)'s 14. Cameron Hayes accounted for 10 points and Saiquan Jamison notched a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds. Fayetteville State will begin Southern Division action on Saturday, January 19th when the Broncos travel to Charlotte, NC for a 4 pm game against Johnson C. Smith University.
