Top Marshall University alumni playing currently pro basketball

We bring you last week's top former Thundering Herd players who are currently playing in pro basketball.


   #1. Damier Pitts (5'10''-PG-89, graduated '12, plays pro in Hungary) could not help JP-Auto JKSE (18-16) in their game last Tuesday. Despite Pitts' very good performance the fifth-placed JP-Auto JKSE (18-16) was defeated 76-68 on the road by the higher-ranked PVSK-Veolia (#4) in the Places 1-5 group. He was the top scorer with 29 points. Pitts also added 5 rebounds and dished 5 assists in 38 minutes. Pitts has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages 21.3ppg, 3.4rpg, 5.5apg and 1.6spg. He is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas.

   #2. James Kelly (6'7''-F-93, graduated '16, plays in Israel) was not able to help Hapoel Galil Gilboa (11-22) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Hapoel Galil Gilboa was edged 91-90 in Nes Ziyona by the higher-ranked (#6) Ironi Nes-Ziona. Kelly was the top scorer with 26 points. He also added 9 rebounds and made 2 blocks; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Kelly's third season in pro basketball. The Regular Season already ended. It's Kelly's first year with the team. He has very impressive stats this season 15.2ppg, 7.9rpg, 1.8apg and 1.1spg in 33 games he played so far.

   #3. Experienced Mark Dorris (6'2''-G-85, graduated '08, currently in Romania), who plays in the Romanian Liga Nationala was not able to secure a victory for CS Phoenix Galati (3-0) in their game last Sunday. Despite his very good performance the first-placed CS Phoenix Galati (3-0) was defeated 68-62 by the second-ranked Voluntari in the Group Yellow. Dorris was the top scorer with 19 points. He also added 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals in 36 minutes. Dorris has relatively good stats this season 13.8ppg, 6.6rpg, 4.5apg and 1.8spg.

   #4. Markel Humphrey (6'6''-F-87, graduated '09, plays pro in Switzerland) led Geneve Lions to an easy victory against the fifth-ranked Lakers (2-3) crushing them 107-80 in the Swiss SBL on Saturday night. Humphrey recorded 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Lions de Geneve (3-2) is placed second in Places 1-6 group. It's Humphrey's first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year 14.1ppg, 8.1rpg, 2.8apg and 1.3spg in 30 games.

   #5. Aleksa Nikolic (6'7''-G-95, graduated '18, plays in Serbia) couldn't help Zlatibor (2-6) in their game against OKK Beograd (2-6) in the Serbian KLS. He scored only 4 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 5 assists in 30 minutes. The fifth-placed Zlatibor (2-6) was defeated 87-74 at home by the higher-ranked OKK Beograd (#4) in the Group A. It was Zlatibor's third consecutive loss in a row. Nikolic's team will play only one more game in the Second Stage. And that game will be critical. This season Nikolic averages 6.9ppg, 4.7rpg, 4.1apg and 1.7spg.
