Top Long Beach State University alumni playing currently pro basketball

Every week we bring you a list of the top former 49ers players who continue their career in pro basketball.


   #1. Eugene Phelps (6'6''-F-90, graduated '12, plays pro in Puerto Rico) could not help Atleticos de San German in their game last Wednesday. Despite his very good performance Atleticos de San German was defeated 100-91 on the road by the lower-ranked Cariduros (#5). Phelps recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and getting 16 rebounds. He also added 2 blocks in 33 minutes. Phelps has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages 18.9ppg, 10.5rpg, 3.1apg and 1.4bpg.

   #2. Nick Faust (6'6''-SF-93, graduated '16, plays in Hungary) was not able to help Atomeromu (17-17) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the first-placed Atomeromu (17-17) was edged 83-80 at home by the lower-ranked (#3) Szolnok in the Places 6-10 group. Faust was the top scorer with 17 points. He also added 5 rebounds; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Faust's third season in pro basketball. It's Faust's first year with the team. He has very impressive stats this season 16.1ppg, 6.2rpg, 2.2apg and 1.8spg in 33 games he played so far.

   #3. Evan Payne (6'1''-PG-93, graduated '17, currently in North Macedonia), who plays in the North Macedonian Prva Liga was not able to secure a victory for Kozuv (13-16) in their game last Wednesday. Despite his very good performance the fifth-placed Kozuv (13-16) was defeated 93-84 in a derby game by the higher-ranked Blokotehna (#3) in the Places 1-6 group. Payne was the top scorer with 21 points. He also added 4 boards, handed out 3 passes and blocked 2 shots in 38 minutes. Payne's team will play only one more game in the Second Stage. And that game will be critical. This season Payne has very high stats. He averages 15.4ppg, 4.0rpg, 2.5apg and 1.1spg.

   #4. James Ennis (6'7''-F/G-90, graduated '13, plays pro in the NBA) couldn't help the Philadelphia 76ers (51-31) in their game against the Toronto Raptors (58-24) in the NBA. He recorded 6 points. The Philadelphia 76ers (51-31) were edged 92-90 on their home court in Philadelphia by the Raptors. This year Ennis averages 6.1ppg and 3.7rpg in 29 games.

   #5. David Samuels (6'8''-F/C-91, graduated '15, plays in Spain) couldn't help Estela (15-19) in their game against Real Murcia (22-12) in the Spanish LEB Silver (third division). He recorded 7 points, 11 rebounds and 2 blocks in 24 minutes. The seventh-placed Estela (15-19) was edged 70-68 on their home court in Santander by the higher-ranked Real Murcia (#3) in the West group. It was Estela's fifth consecutive loss in a row. The Regular Season already ended. Samuels has relatively good stats this season 10.9ppg, 8.3rpg and 1.3spg. He is a naturalized Jamaican.
