EuroBasket Pro Stags Weekly Update

Every week we bring you a list of the top former Stags players who continue their career in pro basketball.


   #1. Derek Needham (5'11''-PG-90, graduated '13, plays pro in Lithuania) could not help Rytas (25-10) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Rytas was badly defeated 91-75 on the road by the leading Zalgiris. Needham was the second best scorer with 16 points. He also added 3 passes in 26 minutes. Needham's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Needham has relatively good stats this year 13.3ppg, 1.2rpg, 5.5apg and 1.7spg in 13 games he played so far. He is a naturalized Montenegrin.

   #2. Anthony Laveal Johnson (6'8''-C-88, graduated '10, plays in Argentina) was the major contributor in a Bahia Basket's surprising victory against the sixth-ranked Argentino (14-23) 78-75 in the Argentinian La Liga last Sunday. He recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and getting 12 rebounds. Johnson also added 2 blocks. Bahia Basket (15-23) is placed 15th in the La Liga. His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. Johnson has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages 15.5ppg, 7.5rpg, 1.5apg and 1.3spg.

   #3. Francis Jonathan Han (6'1''-PG-87, graduated '11, currently in Puerto Rico), who plays in the Puerto Rican BSN was not able to help Vaqueros de Bayamon (12-13) in their last game. Despite his good performance Vaqueros de Bayamon lost 96-105 in Fajardo to the higher-ranked (#4) Cariduros. Han scored 10 points and added 9 passes in 32 minutes. This year Han averages 8.5ppg, 3.2rpg and 6.8apg in 24 games. He has also Puerto Rican nationality.

   #4. Amadou Sidibe (6'8''-PF-94, graduated '17, plays pro in Portugal) was not able to secure a victory for Lusitania (16-16) in their game against Ovarense (7-15) in the Portuguese LPB. Despite his very good performance in Thursday night's game Sidibe scored 14 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. This season Sidibe has very high stats. He averages 16.6ppg, 13.0rpg and 1.5apg.

   #5. Maurice Barrow (6'5''-F-92, graduated '14, plays in Australia) couldn't help Willetton Tigers (12-6) in their game against Wanneroo (10-2) in the Australian State League (second division), despite his very good performance last Friday. He was the top scorer with 19 points. Barrow also added 9 rebounds in 31 minutes. Buthis team lost 73-79 in Joondalup to the leading Wanneroo in the SBL group. Barrow has very impressive stats this year 16.2ppg, 6.7rpg, 3.7apg and 1.5spg in 13 games.

   #6. Josip Mikulic (7'1''-C/F-93, graduated '13, currently in Czech Republic) couldn't help BK Olomoucko in their game against CEZ Nymburk in the Czech Republic NBL. Mikulic did not beat the league record on Monday evening. He recorded only 2 points. His team was crushed by 35 points 102-67. This season Mikulic averages 7.2ppg and 2.8rpg.

   #7. Marcus Gilbert (6'6''-F-93, graduated '16, plays pro in Spain) contributed to a 1-point Palma's victory against the eighth-ranked CB Granada 63-62 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) in Friday night's game. He scored 7 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 25 minutes. Gilbert has relatively good stats this year 10.1ppg and 3.3rpg in 32 games.
