Top University of Miami, Florida alumni playing currently pro basketball

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Hurricanes alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.


   #1. Tonye Jekiri (7'0''-C-94, graduated '16, plays pro in Turkey) could not help one of league's weakest teams Gaziantep Basketbol (17-11) in their game last Sunday. Despite his very good performance Gaziantep Basketbol was defeated 70-66 on the road by the higher-ranked Galatasaray (#4). Jekiri was the top scorer with 27 points. He also added 9 rebounds in 32 minutes. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Jekiri has relatively good stats this season 12.7ppg, 10.3rpg and 2.4apg.

   #2. Shane Larkin (5'11''-PG-92, graduated '13, plays in Turkey) led Anadolu Efes to a victory over the 11th-ranked Pinar Karsiyaka (11-17) crushing them 96-66 in the Turkish BSL in Thursday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Larkin scored 14 points and added 3 assists. Anadolu Efes Istanbul (25-3) is placed first in the BSL. It was his team's 17th consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. It's Larkin's first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year 14.0ppg, 2.2rpg, 4.2apg and 1.3spg in 13 games he played so far.

   #3. DeQuan Jones (6'8''-F-90, graduated '12, currently in Israel), who plays in the Israeli Winner League was not able to help Hapoel Unet Holon (16-7) in their game last Friday. Despite his very good performance Hapoel Unet Holon was defeated 108-99 in Jerusalem by the second-ranked Hapoel. Jones was the second best scorer with 17 points. He also added 6 rebounds in 26 minutes. Jones' team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is quite important. It's Jones' first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year 11.3ppg and 3.2rpg.

   #4. Julian Gamble (6'10''-F/C-89, graduated '13, plays pro in France) was not able to secure a victory for JSF Nanterre (23-10) in their game against JL Bourg (18-15) in the French Jeep ELITE ProA. He scored 9 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. But JSF Nanterre lost 70-75 in Bourg to the lower-ranked (#9) JL Bourg. It was JSF Nanterre's first loss after six consecutive victories. Gamble's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is extremely important. It's Gamble's first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year 10.4ppg, 5.1rpg and 1.3bpg in 32 games.

   #5. Experienced Brian Asbury (6'7''-PF-86, graduated '09, plays in Finland) was the main contributor in Kouvot's victory against the league leader Vilpas (36-11) 95-86 in the Finnish Korisliiga in Sunday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Asbury recorded a double-double by scoring 27 points and getting 11 rebounds in 28 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Kouvot Kouvola (17-10) is placed third in the Korisliiga. It was his team's fourth consecutive victory in a row. There are only four games left until the end of the Semifinals. Asbury has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages 18.4ppg, 6.5rpg, 2.1apg and 1.5spg.

   #6. Guillermo Diaz (6'2''-G-85, graduated '06, currently in Puerto Rico) contributed to an Atleticos de San German's victory against the league leader Santeros 104-100 in the Puerto Rican BSN last Sunday. He scored 15 points, had 6 rebounds and dished 5 assists. Diaz has relatively good stats this year 12.4ppg, 4.3rpg and 3.6apg in 12 games. He has also Puerto Rican citizenship.

   #7. Ivan Cruz Uceda (6'10''-C/F-91, graduated '16, plays pro in Spain) couldn't help RETAbet BB (24-10) in their game last Sunday. Despite Cruz Uceda's good performance RETAbet BB was defeated 86-77 at home by the much lower-ranked Palencia_Baloncesto (#9). He scored 11 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in a mere 19 minutes. This season Cruz Uceda averages 9.2ppg and 5.4rpg.

   #8. Malcolm Grant (6'1''-PG-88, graduated '12, plays in Lithuania) couldn't help Prienu Skycop in their game against Lietkabelis in the Lithuanian LKL. He scored 6 points. His team lost 70-78. Grant has relatively good stats this year 11.9ppg and 2.2apg in 14 games.
