Top University of Texas at Arlington alumni playing currently pro basketball

We bring you last week's top former Mavericks players who are currently playing in pro basketball.


   #1. Experienced Marquez Haynes (6'3''-PG-86, graduated '10, plays pro in Italy). He could not help one of league's weakest teams Umana Reyer Venezia (19-10) to beat Vanoli Cremona (20-9) in the Italian Serie A. Haynes scored 8 points in 23 minutes. Umana Reyer Venezia was defeated 80-65 on the road by the second-ranked Vanoli Cremona. His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. This season Haynes averages 9.2ppg, 1.8rpg and 3.0apg. He is a naturalized Georgian.

   #2. Reger Dowell (6'1''-PG-91, graduated '14, plays in Georgia) led Dinamo Tbilisi to a victory over the closely-ranked TSU-Hyundai (10-8) 90-72 in a derby game in the Georgian Superleague in Sunday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Dowell scored 26 points (!!!) and added 6 assists. Dinamo Tbilisi (10-8) is placed fifth in the Superleague. It's Dowell's first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year 14.8ppg, 4.6rpg, 3.3apg and 1.1spg in 21 games he played so far.

   #3. Karol Gruszecki (6'4''-G/F-89, graduated '13, currently in Poland) was the main contributor in a Polski Cukier Torun's victory against the seventh-ranked Wilki Morskie (15-15) 70-65 in the Polish EBL last Friday. He was MVP of the game. Gruszecki recorded 9 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 26 minutes. Polski Cukier Torun (24-6) is placed second in the EBL. Gruszecki has relatively good stats this season 11.2ppg, 4.0rpg, 2.7apg and 1.1spg.

   #4. LaMarcus Reed (6'5''-G/F-88, graduated '12, plays pro in Bulgaria) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Beroe (19-5) 88-70 in the Bulgarian NBL on Monday night. He recorded 6 points. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Balkan Botevgrad (16-8) is placed third in the NBL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This year Reed averages 7.5ppg, 3.2rpg and 2.1apg in 15 games.

   #5. Jorge Bilbao (6'8''-F-95, graduated '17, plays in Poland) managed to help Legia Warszawa to win against the league leader Asseco Arka (25-5) 97-91 in the Polish EBL in Tuesday night's game. Bilbao scored only one point in 3 minutes on the court. Legia Warszawa (15-15) is placed eighth in the EBL. This season Bilbao averages 1.0ppg and 2.1rpg.

   #6. Jalen Jones (6'2''-G-95, graduated '17, currently in Brazil) was the major contributor in a Sao Paulo FC's victory against the closely-ranked Campo Mourao 95-87 in the Brazilian Liga Ouro (second division) last Thursday. He scored 22 points, grabbed 8 boards, handed out 8 passes and blocked 2 shots. Jones has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 17.0ppg, 6.2rpg, 2.2apg and 1.1spg in 14 games.
