Best performed former Fairfield University players in pro basketball in last week games

Every week we bring you a list of the top former Stags players who continue their career in pro basketball.


   #1. Derek Needham (5'11''-PG-90, graduated '13, plays pro in Lithuania) led Rytas to a victory against the closely-ranked P.Zvaigzdes (16-17) 80-74 in the Lithuanian LKL last Wednesday. He scored 11 points and added 8 passes in 26 minutes. BC Rytas Vilnius (23-8) is placed third in the LKL. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Needham has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 15.1ppg, 1.1rpg, 5.7apg and 1.7spg in seven games he played so far. Needham is a naturalized Montenegrin.

   #2. Anthony Laveal Johnson (6'8''-C-88, graduated '10, plays in Argentina) could not help Bahia Basket (12-19) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Johnson's very good performance Bahia Basket was defeated 87-75 at home by the much higher-ranked Obras Basket (#4). He was the second best scorer with 20 points. Johnson also added 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists. This season Johnson has very high stats. He averages 15.3ppg, 7.4rpg, 1.7apg and 1.2spg.

   #3. Amadou Sidibe (6'8''-PF-94, graduated '17, currently in Portugal), who plays in the Portuguese LPB was not able to help Lusitania (14-15) in their last game. Despite his good performance the fifth-placed Lusitania (14-15) lost 79-85 on their home court in Angra to the higher-ranked (#3) FC Porto in the Places 1-6 group. Sidibe had a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting 27 rebounds in 42 minutes. There are only three games left until the end of the Second Stage. So now every game is very crucial. It's Sidibe's first season with the team. He has very impressive stats this year 16.3ppg, 13.1rpg and 1.5apg in 28 games.

   #4. Maurice Barrow (6'5''-F-92, graduated '14, plays pro in Australia) was not able to secure a victory for Willetton Tigers (12-6) in their game against Hawks (2-4) in the Australian State League (second division). Despite his very good performance on Thursday night He was the second best scorer with 17 points. Barrow also added made 5 passes and 3 steals. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. Barrow has relatively good stats this year 14.6ppg, 6.3rpg, 3.3apg and 1.1spg.

   #5. Francis Jonathan Han (6'1''-PG-87, graduated '11, plays in Puerto Rico) managed to help Vaqueros de Bayamon in a victory against the closely-ranked Cariduros (11-10) crushing them 120-86 in the Puerto Rican BSN on Sunday night. Han scored only 3 points, made 5 passes and 3 steals in 22 minutes. Vaqueros de Bayamon (8-9) is placed seventh in the BSN. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. This year Han averages 9.4ppg, 2.8rpg, 6.8apg and 1.1spg in 16 games. He has also Puerto Rican nationality.

   #6. Josip Mikulic (7'1''-C/F-93, graduated '13, currently in Czech Republic) contributed to a BK Olomoucko's victory against the fifth-ranked BK Pardubice 93-87 in the Czech Republic NBL in Tuesday night's game. Mikulic scored 7 points. This season Mikulic averages 7.5ppg and 2.8rpg.

   #7. Marcus Gilbert (6'6''-F-93, graduated '16, plays pro in Spain) helped Palma win their game against the 15th-ranked Barca II 84-72 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) last Saturday. He scored only 2 points and added 3 passes in 25 minutes. Gilbert has relatively good stats this year 10.7ppg and 3.4rpg in 27 games.
