Top West Virginia University alumni playing currently pro basketball

Every week we bring you a list of the top former Mountaineers players who continue their career in pro basketball.


   #1. Experienced Joe Alexander (6'8''-C/F-86, graduated '08, plays pro in Turkey) could not help Besiktas (12-16) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Besiktas lost 67-76 on the road to the lower-ranked (#8) Banvit. Alexander was the top scorer with 26 points. He also added 8 rebounds in 29 minutes. It was Besiktas' fifth consecutive loss in a row. Alexander's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And that game will be critical. Alexander has relatively good stats this year 11.0ppg and 5.1rpg in 16 games he played so far. He is a naturalized Israeli.

   #2. Gary Browne (6'1''-G-93, graduated '15, plays in Israel) led Ironi Hai Motors Nes-Ziona to a 2-point victory over the closely-ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (12-16) 100-98 in the Israeli Winner League last Monday. He was MVP of the game. Browne recorded 23 points, 4 rebounds and 9 assists. Ironi Hai Motors Nes-Ziona (13-15) is placed sixth in the Winner League. Browne has relatively good stats this season 14.8ppg, 5.3rpg, 5.0apg and 1.1spg. He is a naturalized Puerto Rican.

   #3. Devin Ebanks (6'9''-F-89, graduated '10, currently in France), who plays in the French Jeep ELITE ProA was not able to help Champagne Chalons-Reims Basket (18-10) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Champagne Chalons-Reims Basket lost 73-84 in Fos-sur-Mer to the much lower-ranked (#15) Provence Basket. Ebanks was the top scorer with 21 points. He also added 8 rebounds in 40 minutes. It's Ebanks' first season with the team. Ebanks has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 19.3ppg, 6.9rpg, 1.6apg and 1.1spg in 27 games.

   #4. Teyvon Myers (6'2''-G-94, graduated '17, plays pro in Sweden) led KFUM Jamtland Basket to a victory over the league leader Sodertalje Kings (29-7) 84-76 in the Swedish Basketligan in Friday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Myers recorded 26 points (!!!) and added 3 passes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his second season in pro basketball. KFUM Jamtland Basket (23-13) is placed fifth in the Basketligan. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Myers' first year with the team. This season Myers has very high stats. He averages 17.9ppg, 3.1rpg, 3.7apg and 1.2spg.

   #5. John Flowers (6'7''-F-89, graduated '11, plays in Argentina) was not able to secure a victory for La Union (6-20) in their last game. Despite his very good performance La Union lost 75-82 in Almagra to the leading San Lorenzo. Flowers had a double-double by scoring 16 points and getting 11 rebounds. He also added 3 assists and 2 blocks (was perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line) in 38 minutes. It was La Union's tenth consecutive loss in a row. Flowers has very impressive stats this year 15.7ppg, 6.5rpg and 1.7apg in 30 games.

   #6. Da'Sean Butler (6'7''-F-88, graduated '10, currently in Israel) contributed to an easy victory against the closely-ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona crushing them 100-73 in the Israeli Winner League on Monday night. Butler scored 7 points. This season Butler averages 7.6ppg, 4.0rpg and 1.5apg.

   #7. Kevin Jones (6'9''-F-89, graduated '12, plays pro in Japan) was the major contributor in a Ryukyu GK's victory against the fifth-ranked Shiga L-Stars 69-63 in the Japanese B League in Saturday night's game. Jones scored 14 points, grabbed 9 rebounds, passed 3 assists and added 2 blocks in 26 minutes. Jones has relatively good stats this year 13.1ppg, 9.1rpg, 1.9apg and 1.5spg in 27 games.

   #8. Jonathan Holton (6'8''-F-91, graduated '16, plays in Argentina) couldn't help Obras Basket in their game against Quilmes MP in the Argentinian La Liga. Holton recorded only 4 points, 15 rebounds and 2 blocks. His team was edged 84-82. This season Holton averages 6.6ppg and 6.1rpg.

   #9. D'Or Fischer (6'11''-C-81, graduated '05, currently in Israel), who plays in the Israeli Winner League couldn't help Bnei Hertzeliya (7-21) in their last game. Despite Fischer's good performance the bottom-ranked Bnei Hertzeliya lost 86-97 at home to the higher-ranked (#9) Maccabi Ashdod. He had a double-double by scoring 14 points and getting 12 rebounds. Fischer also added 3 blocks in 35 minutes. This year Fischer averages 9.1ppg, 8.7rpg and 1.6bpg in seven games. He is a naturalized Israeli.

   #10. Alex Ruoff (6'6''-F/G-86, graduated '09, plays pro in Finland) couldn't help Helsinki Seagulls (18-22) in their last game on Monday. Despite his very good performance Helsinki Seagulls was defeated 98-89 on the opponent's court by the second-ranked Kauhajoki. Ruoff recorded a double-double by scoring 15 points and making 11 passes. He also added 7 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Ruoff has relatively good stats this season 12.4ppg, 6.2rpg and 4.3apg.
