Top Duke University alumni playing currently pro basketball

We bring you last week's top former Blue Devils players who are currently playing in pro basketball.


   #1. Kyrie Irving (6'3''-G-92, graduated '11, plays pro in the NBA) led Boston Celtics to a victory over the Indiana Pacers (48-34) 99-91 in the NBA on Wednesday night. He was MVP of the game. Irving scored 37 points (!!!), grabbed 6 boards, handed out 7 passes and blocked 2 shots in 39 minutes. The Boston Celtics have 49-33 record this season. Irving has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 23.7ppg, 5.0rpg, 7.0apg and 1.5spg. Irving is a naturalized Australian.

   #2. Jayson Tatum (6'8''-F-98, graduated '17, plays in the NBA) is a teammate of previously mentioned Kyrie Irving and both played together in the last NBA game. Tatum was the major contributor in a Boston Celtics' victory against the Indiana Pacers (48-34) 99-91. He scored 26 points (!!!) and grabbed 4 rebounds; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Tatum's second season in pro basketball. Tatum has very impressive stats this year 15.9ppg, 6.0rpg, 2.1apg and 1.1spg in 83 games he played so far.

   #3. Experienced J.J. Redick (6'4''-SG-84, graduated '06, currently in the NBA) contributed to an easy victory against the Brooklyn Nets (42-40) 131-115 in the NBA last Thursday. He scored 26 points (!!!) in 34 minutes. The Philadelphia 76ers have a solid 51-31 record this season. This year Redick has very high stats. He averages 17.9ppg, 2.4rpg and 2.6apg.

   #4. Luke Kennard (6'5''-G-96, graduated '17, plays pro in the NBA) could not help the Detroit Pistons (41-41) in their last game. Despite Kennard's very good performance the Detroit Pistons (41-41) were crushed 120-99 on the road by the Milwaukee Bucks. He was the top scorer with 19 points. Kennard also added 4 rebounds; not bad, considering it's only his second season in pro basketball. Kennard has relatively good stats this year 10.0ppg, 3.0rpg and 1.8apg in 67 games.

   #5. Ryan Kelly (6'11''-PF-91, graduated '13, plays in Japan) was not able to help Hitachi SunRockers Tokyo-Shibuya (27-33) in their game last Sunday. Despite his very good performance the fourth-placed Hitachi SunRockers Tokyo-Shibuya (27-33) was crushed 95-74 in Chiba by the leading Jets in the East group. Kelly recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and getting 14 rebounds. He also added 7 assists and 2 blocks in 36 minutes. The Regular Season already ended. This season Kelly has very high stats. He averages 20.1ppg, 10.2rpg, 4.0apg, 1.2bpg and 1.2spg.

   #6. DeMarcus Nelson (6'4''-PG-85, graduated '08, currently in France) was not able to secure a victory for ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket in their game against JSF Nanterre in the French Jeep ELITE ProA. He recorded 6 points and added 4 passes. His team was crushed by 22 points 96-74. This year Nelson averages 6.5ppg, 2.6rpg and 3.3apg in 23 games. He is a naturalized Serbian.

   #7. Kyle Singler (6'8''-F-88, graduated '11, plays pro in Spain) couldn't help Rio Natura Monbus Obradoiro CAB (11-16) in their game last Sunday. Despite his good performance Rio Natura Monbus Obradoiro CAB was edged in an overtime 104-101 in Madrid by the lower-ranked Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (#14). Singler recorded 13 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 26 minutes. Singler has relatively good stats this season 10.5ppg and 3.7rpg.

   #8. Austin Rivers (6'4''-G-92, graduated '12, plays in the NBA) contributed to a 3-point Houston Rockets' victory against the Utah Jazz 104-101 in the NBA in Saturday night's game. Rivers scored 11 points. Rivers has relatively good stats this year 8.5ppg, 1.9rpg and 2.2apg in 51 games.

   #9. Quinn Cook (6'2''-PG-93, graduated '15, currently in the NBA) couldn't help the Golden State Warriors in their game against the Los Angeles Clippers in the NBA. Despite his good performance on Monday night He scored 11 points in only a mere 14 minutes. This season Cook averages 7.0ppg, 2.1rpg and 1.6apg.

   #10. Mason Plumlee (6'11''-F-90, graduated '13, plays pro in the NBA) couldn't help the Denver Nuggets in their game against the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA. He scored 8 points and added 3 assists. His team lost 108-118 in the NBA. Plumlee has relatively good stats this year 7.7ppg, 6.3rpg and 3.0apg in 86 games.
