Best performed former Marquette University players in pro basketball in last week games

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Golden Eagles alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.


   #1. Jimmy Butler (6'7''-G/F-89, graduated '11, plays pro in the NBA) could not help the Philadelphia 76ers (51-31) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the Philadelphia 76ers (51-31) lost 102-111 on the road to the Brooklyn Nets. Butler was the top scorer with 36 points. He also added 9 rebounds and 2 blocks in 39 minutes. Butler has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 18.3ppg, 5.3rpg, 4.0apg and 1.8spg in 58 games he played so far.

   #2. Davante Gardner (6'8''-PF-91, graduated '14, plays in Japan) led Niigata Albirex to a 2-point victory over the second-ranked Toshiba Thunders (38-21) 80-78 in the Japanese B League on Saturday night. Gardner was MVP of the game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 29 points and getting 19 rebounds. Gardner also added 6 assists. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in group Central. Niigata Albirex (43-15) is placed first. It was his team's eighth consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This season Gardner has very high stats. He averages 27.8ppg, 11.0rpg and 3.8apg.

   #3. Dwight Buycks (6'3''-PG-89, graduated '11, currently in China), who plays in the Chinese CBA was not able to help Shenzhen Leopards (34-12) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Shenzhen Leopards lost 106-111 in Dongguan to the leading Guandong Tigers. Buycks was the top scorer with 21 points. He also added 7 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 32 minutes. It was Shenzhen Leopards' first loss after three consecutive victories. Buycks has very impressive stats this year 20.5ppg, 4.7rpg, 4.9apg and 2.2spg in 39 games.

   #4. Darius Johnson-Odom (6'2''-PG-89, graduated '12, plays pro in Italy) was not able to secure a victory for Grissin Bon Reggio Emilia (7-19) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Johnson-Odom's very good performance Grissin Bon Reggio Emilia was badly defeated 104-88 in Trieste by the much higher-ranked Alma TR (#5). He was the top scorer with 26 points. Johnson-Odom also added 4 rebounds and dished 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. This season Johnson-Odom has very high stats. He averages 20.7ppg, 2.7rpg and 2.7apg.

   #5. Experienced Travis Diener (6'1''-PG-82, graduated '05, plays in Italy) led Vanoli Basket Cremona to a 3-point victory against the 12th-ranked Germani BR (12-14) 89-86 in the Italian Serie A on Sunday night. He scored 13 points and added 4 passes in 30 minutes. Vanoli Basket Cremona (17-9) is placed third in the Serie A. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. This year Diener averages 9.2ppg, 2.0rpg and 3.8apg in 26 games. He is a naturalized Italian.

   #6. Wesley Matthews (6'5''-G-86, graduated '09, currently in the NBA), who plays in the NBA couldn't help the Indiana Pacers (48-34) in their last game on Friday. Despite his good performance the Indiana Pacers were defeated 104-96 in Boston by the Celtics. Matthews scored 11 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. Matthews has relatively good stats this season 10.6ppg, 2.8rpg and 2.3apg.

   #7. Trent Lockett (6'5''-G-90, graduated '13, plays pro in Russia) couldn't help Unics Kazan in their game against Parma in the VTB United League. He scored 5 points in 25 minutes. His team lost 76-82. This year Lockett averages 6.9ppg, 3.4rpg and 2.0apg in 21 games.

   #8. Jamil Wilson (6'7''-F-90, graduated '14, plays in Italy) led Fiat TO to a 3-point victory against the league outsider Pistoia Basket 81-78 in the Italian Serie A on Sunday night. Wilson scored 12 points. This season Wilson averages 8.7ppg, 4.0rpg and 1.1apg.

   #9. Jae Crowder (6'6''-F-90, graduated '12, currently in the NBA) couldn't help the Utah Jazz in their game against the Houston Rockets in the NBA. Crowder recorded 9 points in 20 minutes. His team was crushed by 32 points 122-90 in the NBA. Crowder has very impressive stats this year 11.8ppg, 4.8rpg and 1.6apg in 82 games.

   #10. Matt Carlino (6'3''-PG-92, graduated '15, plays pro in France) was the major contributor in a Chorale de Roanne Basket's victory against the 14th-ranked Quimper UJAP 69-65 in the French ProB (second division) last Saturday. He scored 14 points and added 3 passes. This season Carlino has very high stats. He averages 15.2ppg, 4.0rpg, 3.4apg and 1.1spg. Carlino is a naturalized Italian.
