Best performed former San Diego State University players in pro basketball in last week games

We bring you last week's top former Aztecs players who are currently playing in pro basketball.


   #1. Kawhi Leonard (6'7''-F-91, graduated '11, plays pro in the NBA) could not help the Toronto Raptors (58-24) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the Toronto Raptors (58-24) were edged 104-101 on the road by the Orlando Magic. Leonard was the top scorer with 25 points. He also added 6 rebounds and 3 assists in 33 minutes. Leonard has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 26.6ppg, 7.3rpg, 3.3apg and 1.7spg in 61 games he played so far.

   #2. Malcolm Thomas (6'9''-C-88, graduated '11, plays in Russia) was the major contributor in Khimki's victory against the 12th-ranked Stelmet Enea BC (5-19) crushing them 100-80 in the VTB United League on Monday night. Thomas scored 16 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. BC Khimki Moscow Region (18-5) is placed third in the VTB United League. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the VTB United League Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This season Thomas averages 8.1ppg, 4.7rpg and 1.8apg.

   #3. J.J. O'Brien (6'7''-F-92, graduated '15, currently in Kazakhstan), who plays in Kazakhstan was not able to help Astana (14-10) in their last game. Despite O'Brien's very good performance Astana was badly defeated 91-72 in Moscow by the leading CSKA. He was the top scorer with 25 points. O'Brien also added 3 assists in 34 minutes. There are only two games left until the end of the VTB United League Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. O'Brien has very impressive stats this year 15.5ppg, 5.4rpg, 4.0apg and 1.1spg in 23 games.

   #4. Experienced Marcus Slaughter (6'9''-C/F-85, graduated '06, plays pro in Turkey) was not able to secure a victory for Bahcesehir Koleji Istanbul (11-14) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Slaughter's good performance Bahcesehir Koleji Istanbul was edged 80-78 in a derby game by the higher-ranked Besiktas (#7). He scored 13 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 3 assists. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. It's Slaughter's first season with the team. This year Slaughter averages 8.0ppg, 7.9rpg, 2.0apg and 1.5spg.

   #5. Xavier Thames (6'3''-G-91, graduated '14, plays in Hungary) led his Hungarian team Kormend to an easy victory against the leader KK Skrljevo (4-2) crushing them 92-71 in the Alpe Adria Cup on Monday night. Thames scored 14 points and added 4 passes in 26 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 2 ranked teams in group A. Egis Kormend (4-2) is placed first. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. It's Thames' first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year 11.2ppg, 4.2rpg and 3.0apg in five games.

   #6. Mohamed Abukar (6'10''-F-85, graduated '07, currently in Cyprus) contributed to Keravnos' victory against the closely-ranked Apoel 80-74 in the Cypriot Division A in Tuesday night's game. He recorded 6 points and added 3 passes. Abukar has relatively good stats this season 11.4ppg, 2.5rpg and 1.9apg. He is a naturalized Somalian.

   #7. Brian Carlwell (6'11''-C-87, graduated '12, plays pro in Australia) led Perry Lakes Hawks to a victory against the leader Wanneroo 102-94 in the Australian State League (second division) last Saturday. He recorded 11 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 21 minutes. Carlwell has relatively good stats this year 11.5ppg, 7.8rpg and 2.0apg in six games.

   #8. Mehdi Cheriet (6'9''-PF-87, graduated '11, plays in France) couldn't help SO Maritime Boulogne in their game against JSA Bordeaux in the French NM1 (third division). Cheriet cannot count Saturday's game as one of the best ones. He scored only 2 points. His team was edged 83-82. This season Cheriet averages 8.3ppg, 3.0rpg and 1.2apg. He has also French nationality.

   #9. Angelo Chol (6'9''-F-93, graduated '16, currently in Spain) couldn't help Caceres Patrimonio de la Humanidad in their game against Ourense in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division). Chol recorded only 4 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in 11 minutes. His team was edged 83-80. This year he averages 5.9ppg and 3.6rpg in 29 games. Chol is a naturalized South Sudanese.

   #10. Max Montana (6'9''-F-96, graduated '18, plays pro in Germany) contributed to Hamburg's victory against the closely-ranked Rostock 84-74 in the German ProA (second division) last Friday. Montana scored 12 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. This season he averages 8.2ppg and 4.2rpg. Montana is a naturalized German.
