Top University of Houston alumni playing currently pro basketball

Every week we bring you a list of the top former Cougars players who continue their career in pro basketball.


   #1. Jonathon Simmons (6'6''-G-89, graduated '12, plays pro in the NBA) led Philadelphia 76ers to a victory over the Chicago Bulls (22-60) 125-109 in the NBA on Wednesday night. He was MVP of the game. Simmons scored 20 points, had 7 rebounds and dished 5 assists in 30 minutes. The Philadelphia 76ers have a solid 51-31 record this season. There are only three games left until the end of the NBA Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. This season Simmons averages 5.4ppg, 1.8rpg and 2.1apg.

   #2. Rob Gray (6'1''-G-94, graduated '18, plays in France) contributed to a 3-point JL Bourg Basket's victory against the sixth-ranked Chalon/Saor (16-11) 79-76 in the French Jeep ELITE ProA in Tuesday night's game. He scored 12 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 6 assists. JL Bourg Basket (23-4) is placed second in the Jeep ELITE ProA. It was his team's seventh consecutive victory in a row. Gray has relatively good stats this year 11.0ppg, 5.5rpg and 4.5apg in two games he played so far.

   #3. Damyean Dotson (6'5''-G-94, graduated '17, currently in the NBA) contributed to a New York Knicks' victory against the Chicago Bulls (22-60) 96-86 in the NBA last Tuesday. Dotson scored 12 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 41 minutes. The New York Knicks have not so impressive 17-65 record this season. The Regular Season already ended in the NBA. Dotson has relatively good stats this year 10.7ppg, 3.6rpg and 1.8apg.

   #4. Experienced Jahmar Thorpe (6'6''-F-84, graduated '07, plays pro in Japan) was the major contributor in a Tokyo Z's victory against the fifth-ranked Kanazawa Samuraiz (21-37) 95-82 in the Japanese B2 League on Saturday night. He had a double-double by scoring 27 points and getting 10 rebounds. Thorpe also added 6 assists. Earthfriends Tokyo Z (21-37) is placed fourth in Central group. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Thorpe has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 16.6ppg, 9.9rpg, 4.1apg and 1.4spg in nine games.

   #5. Sergio de Randamie (6'7''-PF-84, graduated '06, plays in Holland) helped Leiden win their game against the eighth-ranked Leeuwarden (8-23) crushing them 92-69 in the Dutch Eredivisie in Saturday night's game. He recorded 8 points in 24 minutes. Zorg and Zekerheid Leiden (27-3) is placed first in the Eredivisie. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. This season de Randamie averages 4.1ppg, 3.3rpg and 1.1apg. He has also Dutch passport.

   #6. Kelvin Lewis (6'5''-G-88, graduated '10, currently in Germany), who plays in the German ProA (second division) could not help ROMERSTROM Gladiators Trier (16-4) in their last game. Despite Lewis' very good performance the league leader ROMERSTROM Gladiators Trier lost 72-84 on the road to the lower-ranked (#3) Nuernberg. He was the top scorer with 19 points. Lewis also added 4 rebounds. Lewis has relatively good stats this year 12.6ppg, 3.2rpg, 1.7apg and 1.2spg in 29 games.

   #7. Marcus Cousin (6'11''-C-86, graduated '09, plays pro in Japan) was not able to help Iwate Big Bulls (3-3) in their game last Sunday. Despite Cousin's very good performance Iwate Big Bulls were edged 77-74 in Gifu by the one of league's weakest teams Swoops (#6). He recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and getting 10 rebounds in 38 minutes. This season Cousin has very high stats. He averages 18.9ppg, 13.7rpg, 1.9apg and 1.1bpg.

   #8. Zamal Nixon (6'1''-PG-89, graduated '11, plays in Greece) helped Lavrio win their game against the closely-ranked Holargos 76-69 in the Greek A1 in Saturday night's game. He scored 7 points. This year Nixon averages 6.5ppg, 1.6rpg and 3.0apg in 24 games.

   #9. Kyle Meyer (6'10''-C-93, graduated '17, currently in Taiwan), who plays in the Taiwanese SBL was not able to secure a victory for Pauian (20-16) in their game last Sunday. Despite Meyer's good performance Pauian was defeated 84-77 in Taipei by the one of league's weakest teams Dacin Tigers (#6). He scored 13 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 29 minutes. Meyer has relatively good stats this season 13.7ppg, 9.2rpg, 3.0apg and 1.2bpg.

   #10. Roussel Nkali (6'9''-F-92, graduated '17, plays pro in Georgia) managed to help BC Vera in a 3-point victory against the league leader CIU 56-53 in the Georgian A League (second division) on Friday night. Nkali recorded only 3 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocks. This year Nkali averages 9.3ppg, 7.3rpg and 2.5bpg in 13 games.
