Best performed former University of Illinois players in pro basketball in last week games

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Fighting Illini alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.


   #1. Meyers Leonard (7'1''-C-92, graduated '12, plays pro in the NBA) led Portland Trail Blazers to a victory against the Sacramento Kings (39-43) 136-131 in the NBA last Wednesday. He had a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 11 rebounds. Leonard also added 3 assists in 42 minutes. The Portland Trail Blazers have a solid 53-29 record this season. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. There are only three games left until the end of the NBA Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Leonard's seventh year with the team. This season he averages 5.9ppg, 3.9rpg and 1.2apg in 61 games he played so far.

   #2. Maverick Morgan (6'10''-C-94, graduated '17, plays in Poland) could not help GTK Gliwice (9-18) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Morgan's good performance GTK Gliwice was crushed 113-81 on the road by the much higher-ranked Anwil (#4). He scored 11 points, had 4 rebounds and made 2 blocks. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. This season Morgan averages 8.2ppg and 4.3rpg.

   #3. Rayvonte Rice (6'4''-G-92, graduated '15, currently in Italy) led Termoforgia JE to a victory over the 13th-ranked Cagliari DA (10-19) 111-102 in the Italian Serie A2 (second division) in Sunday night's game. Rice was MVP of the game. He recorded 32 points (!!!), 4 rebounds, 3 assists and made 2 blocks (made all of his nine free throws !!!) in 34 minutes. Termoforgia Aurora Jesi (9-20) is placed 15th in East group. Rice's team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is quite important. Rice has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 26.5ppg, 5.3rpg, 2.8apg and 3.0spg in four games.

   #4. Leron Black (6'7''-F-96, graduated '18, plays pro in Argentina) was not able to help Argentino (12-18) in their last game on Sunday. Despite his very good performance Argentino was defeated 76-65 in Mar del Plata by the much lower-ranked Quilmes MP (#18). Black was the top scorer with 16 points. He also added 8 rebounds. This season Black has very high stats. He averages 15.2ppg and 6.8rpg.

   #5. Jaylon Tate (6'3''-PG-95, graduated '17, plays in Finland) was not able to secure a victory for Pyrinto Tampere (24-16) in their last game. Despite his good performance Pyrinto Tampere was badly defeated 79-60 in Kouvola by the lower-ranked (#6) Kouvot. Tate scored 12 points, grabbed 4 boards, dished 5 assists and stole 3 balls in 32 minutes. It was Pyrinto Tampere's first loss after three consecutive victories. The Regular Season already ended. It's Tate's first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year 15.0ppg, 2.5rpg, 4.8apg and 1.1spg in 39 games.

   #6. Nnanna Egwu (6'11''-C-92, graduated '15, currently in New Zealand) couldn't help one of league's weakest teams 2 Cheap Cars Super City Rangers in their game against Hawks in the New Zealand NBL. Despite his very good performance in Saturday night's game He recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 11 rebounds. Egwu also added 3 assists, 3 blocks and 3 steals. He has relatively good stats this season 13.5ppg, 10.0rpg, 2.0apg, 3.0bpg and 2.0spg. Egwu is a naturalized Nigerian.

   #7. Matic Vesel (6'9''-F-98, graduated '18, plays pro in Slovenia) contributed to an easy victory against one of league's weakest teams Portoroz crushing them 94-66 in the Slovenian 2SKL (second division) last Friday. Vesel recorded 7 points in 17 minutes. He has relatively good stats this year 11.3ppg, 5.9rpg and 1.6apg in 26 games.

   #8. D.J. Richardson (6'3''-G-91, graduated '13, plays in France) couldn't help Aix-Maurienne Savoie Basket in their game against Nantes in the French ProB (second division). Despite his good performance in Friday night's game Richardson scored 10 points and had 3 steals. This season he has very high stats. Richardson averages 15.2ppg, 2.5rpg, 1.9apg and 1.9spg.

   #9. Mark Alstork (6'5''-G-95, graduated '18, currently in Luxembourg) couldn't help Residence in their game against Heffingen in the Luxembourg Total League, despite his very good performance last Saturday. He was the top scorer with 22 points. Alstork also added 7 rebounds in 29 minutes. But his team was crushed by 41 points 107-66. He has very impressive stats this year 24.6ppg, 9.3rpg, 2.2apg and 2.0spg in 20 games. Alstork is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market.
