Best performed former Georgetown University players in pro basketball in last week games

Every week we bring you a list of the top former Hoyas players who continue their career in pro basketball.


   #1. Markel Starks (6'2''-G-91, graduated '14, plays pro in Poland) led Stelmet Enea BC Zielona Gora to a 2-point victory over the closely-ranked Anwil (20-7) 93-91 in the Polish EBL last Wednesday. He was MVP of the game. Starks had a double-double by scoring 18 points and making 10 passes. He also added 4 rebounds and 5 steals in 32 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Stelmet Enea BC Zielona Gora (22-5) is placed third in the EBL. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Starks' first season with the team. Starks has relatively good stats this year 12.3ppg, 2.3rpg, 5.6apg and 1.2spg in 24 games he played so far.

   #2. Joshua Smith (6'10''-C-92, graduated '15, plays in Japan) led Toyama Grouses to a victory over the second-ranked Toshiba Thunders (38-20) 88-74 in the Japanese B League on Saturday night. Smith was MVP of the game. He recorded a double-double by scoring 31 points and getting 16 rebounds. Smith also added 3 assists. It was the game of the round between two top 3 ranked teams in group Central. Toyama Grouses (31-28) are placed third. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. It's Smith's first season with the team. He has individually a very good year with high stats. Smith averages 19.8ppg, 10.6rpg, 2.8apg and 1.1spg.

   #3. Greg Whittington (6'8''-F-93, graduated '13, currently in Israel), who plays in the Israeli Winner League could not help Hapoel Galil Gilboa (10-16) in their last game. Despite Whittington's very good performance Hapoel Galil Gilboa was crushed 92-70 on the road by the higher-ranked (#6) Hapoel Tel-Aviv. He had a double-double by scoring 27 points and getting 14 rebounds in 34 minutes. It was Hapoel Galil Gilboa's fourth consecutive loss in a row. Whittington has very impressive stats this year 17.8ppg, 9.3rpg, 2.5apg and 1.3spg in 23 games.

   #4. Greg Monroe (6'11''-C-90, graduated '10, plays pro in the NBA) was not able to help the Philadelphia 76ers (51-31) in their last game on Tuesday. Despite Monroe's very good performance the Philadelphia 76ers (51-31) were crushed 122-99 at home by the Miami Heat. He was the top scorer with 18 points. Monroe also added 5 rebounds. There are only three games left until the end of the NBA Regular Season. So now every game will be important. This season Monroe has very high stats. He averages 13.7ppg, 4.3rpg and 2.3apg.

   #5. Experienced Jeff Green (6'9''-F-86, graduated '07, plays in the NBA) was not able to secure a victory for the Washington Wizards (32-50) in their last game. Despite Green's very good performance the Washington Wizards (32-50) were edged 113-110 in New York City by the New York Knicks. He was the top scorer with 19 points in a mere 16 minutes. It was Wizards' fourth consecutive loss in a row. The Regular Season already ended in the NBA. It's Green's first season with the team. Green has very impressive stats this year 12.3ppg, 4.0rpg and 1.8apg in 77 games.

   #6. Mikael Hopkins (6'9''-F-93, graduated '15, currently in Bulgaria) was the major contributor in Balkan's victory against the seventh-ranked Yambol crushing them 94-70 in the Bulgarian NBL in Wednesday night's game. He scored 12 points, had 9 boards, handed out 3 passes and blocked 3 shots. This season Hopkins has very high stats. He averages 17.3ppg, 9.0rpg, 2.0apg, 1.2bpg and 1.3spg.

   #7. Marcus Derrickson (6'7''-F-96, graduated '18, plays pro in the NBA) couldn't help the Golden State Warriors (57-25) in their last game. Despite his good performance the Golden State Warriors lost 117-132 in Memphis to the Grizzlies. Derrickson scored 13 points in just a mere 8 minutes. This year he averages 4.2ppg and 1.2rpg in 11 games.

   #8. Chris Wright (6'1''-PG-89, graduated '11, plays in Italy) contributed to a 1-point Alma TR's victory against the closely-ranked Sidigas AV 97-96 in the Italian Serie A on Tuesday night. Wright recorded 8 points and added 4 assists. He has relatively good stats this season 13.4ppg, 3.0rpg and 4.7apg.

   #9. Henry Sims (6'10''-C-90, graduated '12, currently in Italy) couldn't help Virtus Roma in their game against Remer TVG in the Italian Serie A2 (second division), despite his good performance in Sunday night's game. He recorded 10 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 22 minutes. But his team was badly defeated by 17 points 85-68. Sims has very impressive stats this year 19.5ppg, 11.3rpg, 1.5apg and 1.9bpg in 26 games.

   #10. L.J. Peak (6'5''-G/F-96, graduated '17, plays pro in Italy) contributed to a Pistoia Basket's victory against the 11th-ranked Virtus Bologna 78-67 in the Italian Serie A last Sunday. Peak recorded 6 points. He has relatively good stats this season 11.3ppg, 2.6rpg, 1.7apg and 1.3spg.
