Eurobasket's Articles

The International Basketball Federation (FIDA) will be hosting the World Cup this year in China from the 31st of August until the end of the play offs on the 15th of September. The build up to selecting the 32 teams to compete was brutal enough and judging from the teams selected we can see the winning potential and may even bet tempted to bet on the underdog at NoviBet. But with the intense build up which led to the final window of qualifiers, we are waiting in avid anticipation for the Cup to begin.

Over the past 15 months, the appointed time in which to choose from a world of talented basketball players, coaches have finally hand-picked their teams and after over a year's wait we can finally begin predicting the outcome of the cup. As soon as the chosen teams were made known to the public, a new journey began to form and one which we predict will garner intensescrutiny.

What to Expect

With the names of each competing player available online, tickets will soon go on sale. As soon as that happens sports bookies will opening their sites and the odds will be predicted. For now, the favourite is only a prediction and as the months build up leading to the FIBA World Cup, we expect to see these predictions fluctuate.

The Highlights of the Qualifier Rounds

In the final window of the qualifying rounds, a few special talents stood out. Zhou Qi became the first Chinese player ever to combine 30+ points and 10+ rebounds in one game. A memorable highlight for some was in the first window of qualifiers when Angola brought in roughly 11 500 supporters.

History was made for Australia when the Australian Boomers made it into the fifth window and played a memorable game. Other highlights included the Syrians taking the title of the highest offensive rebounds, which is the peak number taken by any Asian team.

About FIBA World Cup 2019

The FIBA2019 World Cup will be the 18th tournament hosted for the Men's basketball teams and will be held in China this year. This year there will be 32 competing teams rather than the 24 teams we are accustomed to. 8 of these teams will be chosen to compete against one another for 2 top spots in the 2020 Summer Olympics held in Japan. The competing countries will be from America, Europe, Africa, Asian, Oceania and Japan as the Olympics are held in Tokyo and Japan is the hosting country.

The last World Cup Championship was held in 2014 and after 4 years of anticipation the qualifying rounds began and finally the teams have been chosen.

The year up ahead and the year leading to the Summer Olympics proves the pressure of the games to come. Needless to say, we think both the teams and their fans are prepping for the battle that awaits up ahead and we cannot wait to witness the action take place in less than 4 months!

Written by Courtney Flumo. June 20, 2019 Brooklyn, NY - With the 25th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft the Portland Trail Blazers selects, the steal of the draft, Nassir Little! Paul Allen must be working his magic from the gates of Heaven because the basketball God favored Portland on this night. For the better half of the past decade, Portland has had a supreme back court to lead them deep into the playoffs. This was especially evident this past year, having made the Western Conference Fina...   [read more]
