Top University of Illinois alumni playing currently pro basketball

We bring you last week's top former Fighting Illini players who are currently playing in pro basketball.


   #1. Leron Black (6'7''-F-96, graduated '18, plays pro in Argentina) could not help Argentino (4-16) in their game last Saturday. Despite his very good performance Argentino was defeated 97-89 on the road by the much higher-ranked Gimnasia (#4). Black recorded a double-double by scoring 26 points and getting 12 rebounds in 43 minutes. It's Black's first season with the team. He has relatively good stats this year 14.7ppg and 6.7rpg.

   #2. Brandon Paul (6'4''-G-91, graduated '13, plays in China) was not able to help Zhejiang Chouzhou (22-22) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Zhejiang Chouzhou lost 111-124 in Shenzhen to the much higher-ranked (#3) Leopards. Paul was the second best scorer with 21 points. He also added 5 boards, dished 3 assists and stole 6 balls. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Paul has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 28.3ppg, 9.0rpg, 4.7apg and 2.7spg in 16 games he played so far.

   #3. Maverick Morgan (6'10''-C-94, graduated '17, currently in Poland), who plays in Poland was not able to secure a victory for GTK Gliwice (5-1) in their game last Tuesday. Despite his good performance the first-placed GTK Gliwice (5-1) was badly defeated 105-85 on the opponent's court by the leading Kormend in the group D of Alpe Adria Cup. Morgan recorded 10 points in 19 minutes. It's Morgan's first season with the team. This year he averages 9.0ppg and 5.0rpg.

   #4. Jaylon Tate (6'3''-PG-95, graduated '17, plays pro in Finland) led Pyrinto Tampere to an easy victory against the ninth-ranked Lapuan Korikobrat (11-20) 106-89 in the Finnish Korisliiga on Friday night. He recorded 16 points and added 4 assists; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Tate's second season in pro basketball. Pyrinto Tampere (20-11) is placed third in the Korisliiga. It's Tate's first year with the team. He has very impressive stats this season 15.5ppg, 2.4rpg and 5.0apg in 30 games.

   #5. Mark Alstork (6'5''-G-95, graduated '18, plays in Luxembourg) couldn't help Residence (3-1) in their game against Kordall Steelers (2-2) in the Luxembourg Total League. Despite his very good performance in Saturday night's game Alstork recorded a double-double by scoring 34 points and getting 10 rebounds in 38 minutes. There are only two games left until the end of the Second Stage. So now every game is very crucial. This season Alstork has very high stats. He averages 24.7ppg, 9.2rpg, 2.3apg and 2.1spg. He is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas.

   #6. Experienced Cory Bradford (6'3''-SG-78, graduated '02, currently in China) couldn't help Zhuhai in their game against Saigon Heat in the ASEAN League, despite his very good performance last Sunday. He was the second best scorer with 16 points. But his team were crushed by 32 points 102-70. Bradford has very impressive stats this year 16.8ppg, 3.4rpg and 3.8apg in five games.

   #7. Matic Vesel (6'9''-F-98, graduated '18, plays pro in Slovenia) contributed to an easy victory against the league outsider Portoroz crushing them 88-51 in the Slovenian 2SKL (second division) on Wednesday night. Vesel recorded 9 points and added 3 assists in 18 minutes. Vesel has relatively good stats this season 12.5ppg, 6.8rpg and 2.1apg.

   #8. Meyers Leonard (7'1''-C-92, graduated '12, plays in the NBA) couldn't help the Portland Trail Blazers in their game against the Toronto Raptors in the NBA. He cannot count Friday's game as one of the best ones. Leonard scored only 2 points. His team were edged 119-117 in the NBA. This year Leonard averages 5.8ppg, 3.8rpg and 1.2apg in 54 games.

   #9. Nnanna Egwu (6'11''-F/C-92, graduated '15, currently in Malaysia) couldn't help Westports MD in their game against Macau in the ASEAN League. He scored 7 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and dished 4 assists in 36 minutes. His team was crushed by 25 points 87-62. Egwu has relatively good stats this season 12.4ppg, 7.8rpg, 2.2apg and 1.4bpg. He is a naturalized Nigerian.
