Best performed former University of Pittsburgh players in pro basketball in last week games

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Panthers alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.


   #1. Steven Adams (7'0''-C/F-93, graduated '13, plays pro in the NBA) led Oklahoma City Thunder to a victory against the Memphis Grizzlies (27-40) 99-95 in the NBA last Sunday. He had a double-double by scoring 13 points and getting 22 rebounds in 32 minutes. The Oklahoma City Thunder has a solid 40-26 record this season. It's Adams' sixth year with the team. Adams has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 14.4ppg, 9.7rpg, 1.6apg and 1.6spg in 64 games he played so far.

   #2. Talib Zanna (6'9''-F/C-90, graduated '14, plays in Israel) could not help Ironi Hai Motors Nes-Ziona (8-12) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Zanna's very good performance Ironi Hai Motors Nes-Ziona was defeated 87-82 on the road by the second-ranked Maccabi T-A. He recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 12 rebounds. Zanna also added and 3 steals. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Zanna has relatively good stats this season 12.0ppg, 7.3rpg and 1.6spg.

   #3. Experienced Tyrell Biggs (6'8''-F-86, graduated '09, currently in Cyprus) was the major contributor in a AEK Larnaca's victory against the fifth-ranked Etha (8-11) 101-86 in the Cypriot Division A in Sunday night's game. He recorded 19 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and made 2 blocks in 33 minutes. Petrolina AEK Larnaca (14-4) is placed first in the Division A. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. This year Biggs averages 8.7ppg, 3.8rpg and 1.1apg in 18 games. He is a naturalized Cypriot.

   #4. Lamar Patterson (6'5''-G/F-91, graduated '14, plays pro in Australia) was not able to help Brisbane Bullets (14-14) in their last game on Saturday. Despite his very good performance Brisbane Bullets were defeated 84-79 in Perth by the second-ranked Wildcats. Patterson was the top scorer with 19 points. He also added 5 boards, dished 4 assists and stole 3 balls. It's Patterson's first season with the team. This year Patterson has very high stats. He averages 17.8ppg, 6.3rpg, 3.8apg and 1.3spg.

   #5. Aron Nwankwo (6'8''-F-92, graduated '15, plays in Ukraine) was not able to secure a victory for Kyiv Basket (21-2) in their last game. Despite his good performance Kyiv Basket lost 83-92 in Zaporozhye to the lower-ranked (#3) Zaporizhye. Nwankwo recorded 14 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists in 33 minutes. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. This year Nwankwo averages 7.1ppg, 4.5rpg and 1.5apg in 10 games.

   #6. DeJuan Blair (6'7''-F/C-89, graduated '09, currently in the NBA G League) couldn't help the Austin Spurs in their game against the Erie Bay Hawks in the NBA G League. Despite his very good performance in Tuesday night's game Blair was the second best scorer with 21 points. He also added 6 rebounds and dished 4 assists. This season Blair averages 8.4ppg, 4.4rpg and 1.5apg.

   #7. John DeGroat (6'7''-PF-85, graduated '06, plays pro in Uruguay) couldn't help Nacional in their game against Urunday Universitario in the Uruguayan LUB, despite his good performance last Tuesday. He scored 10 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 34 minutes. But his team lost 81-88. DeGroat has very impressive stats this year 18.2ppg, 5.1rpg, 1.5apg and 1.3spg in 10 games.

   #8. James Robinson (6'3''-PG-94, graduated '16, plays in Israel) couldn't help Bnei Hertzeliya in their game against Hapoel Holon in the Israeli Winner League. Despite his very good performance on Saturday night Robinson recorded 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. This season Robinson averages 9.1ppg, 3.1rpg and 3.4apg.

   #9. Antonio Graves (6'3''-G-85, graduated '07, currently in Turkey) contributed to an OGM Orman's victory against the tenth-ranked Manisa 82-78 in the Turkish TBL (second division) in Friday night's game. Graves recorded 23 points and added 4 passes in 35 minutes. Graves has relatively good stats this year 15.0ppg, 2.7rpg and 3.6apg in 18 games.

   #10. Michael Young (6'9''-F-94, graduated '17, plays pro in France) couldn't help Cholet Basket in their game against Monaco in the French Jeep ELITE ProA. Despite his very good performance on Monday night Young was the top scorer with 14 points. Young has relatively good stats this season 14.9ppg, 4.7rpg and 1.4apg.
