Top University of Miami, Florida alumni playing currently pro basketball

We bring you last week's top former Hurricanes players who are currently playing in pro basketball.


   #1. Shane Larkin (5'11''-PG-92, graduated '13, plays pro in Turkey) led his Turkish team Anadolu Efes to a victory over the closely-ranked FC Barcelona (15-10) crushing them 92-70 in the Euroleague in Friday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Larkin recorded 37 points (!!!) and grabbed 5 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) in 28 minutes. Anadolu Efes Istanbul (17-8) is placed fourth in the Euroleague. This year Larkin averages 9.6ppg, 2.2rpg and 3.1apg in 23 games he played so far.

   #2. Tonye Jekiri (7'0''-C-94, graduated '16, plays in Turkey) contributed to a Gaziantep Basketbol's victory against the closely-ranked Turk Telekom (10-8) 85-79 in the Turkish BSL last Saturday. Jekiri recorded a double-double by scoring 13 points and getting the same number of rebounds. He also added 3 assists. Gaziantep Basketbol (11-7) is placed fourth in the BSL. It was his team's third consecutive victory in a row. Jekiri has relatively good stats this season 12.4ppg, 10.7rpg, 1.8apg and 1.1spg.

   #3. Julian Gamble (6'10''-F/C-89, graduated '13, currently in France) helped JSF Nanterre win their game against the eighth-ranked Limoges CSP Elite (12-9) crushing them 86-65 in the French Jeep ELITE ProA on Sunday night. He had a double-double by scoring 12 points and getting 11 rebounds in 20 minutes. JSF Nanterre (13-8) is placed third in the Jeep ELITE ProA. This year Gamble averages 9.4ppg, 4.8rpg and 1.3bpg in 20 games.

   #4. Rion Brown (6'6''-SG-91, graduated '14, plays pro in Greece). Brown could not help Promitheas (11-6) to beat AEK (12-5) in the Greek A1. He scored 9 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished 4 assists. But Promitheas was crushed 83-62 on the road by the higher-ranked AEK (#3). It was Promitheas' first loss after three consecutive victories. Brown has relatively good stats this season 11.3ppg, 3.1rpg, 2.1apg and 1.1spg.

   #5. Experienced Brian Asbury (6'7''-PF-86, graduated '09, plays in Finland) was the main contributor in Kouvot's victory against the closely-ranked KTP-Basket (17-13) 95-93 in the Finnish Korisliiga last Wednesday. Asbury was MVP of the game. He recorded 28 points (!!!) and grabbed 9 rebounds in 31 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Kouvot Kouvola (15-10) is placed fourth in the Korisliiga. Asbury has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 19.0ppg, 6.8rpg, 2.2apg and 1.4spg in 28 games.

   #6. DeQuan Jones (6'8''-F-90, graduated '12, currently in Israel) helped his Israeli team Hapoel Unet Holon win their game against the second-ranked Balkan 85-81 in the FIBA Europe Cup on Tuesday night. He recorded 10 points and grabbed 4 rebounds. It was his first game for Hapoel Unet Holon this season.

   #7. Ivan Cruz Uceda (6'10''-C/F-91, graduated '16, plays pro in Spain) helped RETAbet BB win their game against the league leader Real Betis crushing them 98-68 in the Spanish LEB Gold (second division) in Sunday night's game. He was MVP of the game. Cruz Uceda scored 21 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 23 minutes. This year Cruz Uceda averages 9.2ppg and 5.5rpg in 22 games.

   #8. Kenny Kadji (6'11''-F-88, graduated '13, plays in Turkey) helped Tofas win their game against the tenth-ranked Darussafaka 80-72 in the Turkish BSL last Sunday. He recorded 7 points. Kadji has relatively good stats this season 11.2ppg, 4.2rpg and 1.2apg.

   #9. Durand Scott (6'5''-F/G-90, graduated '13, currently in Israel) was the major contributor in a 1-point Hapoel Galil Gilboa's victory against the league outsider Bnei Hasharon 90-89 in the Israeli Winner League on Thursday night. He scored 15 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 31 minutes. Scott has very impressive stats this year 18.0ppg, 3.6rpg, 3.0apg and 1.2spg in five games. He is a naturalized Jamaican.

   #10. Kamari Murphy (6'8''-F-93, graduated '17, plays pro in the NBA G League) helped Long Island Nets edge the Greensboro Swarm 115-114 in the NBA G League in Saturday night's game. He scored 14 points, had 9 rebounds and dished 4 assists. This season Murphy averages 9.0ppg, 6.3rpg and 1.3apg.
