Best performed former Winthrop University players in pro basketball in last week games

Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top former Eagles players who continue their career in pro basketball.


   #1. Xavier Cooks (6'8''-G/F-95, graduated '18, plays pro in Germany) could not help one of league's weakest teams s.Oliver Wuerzburg (7-9) in their last game. Despite his very good performance s.Oliver Wuerzburg lost 78-87 on the road to the higher-ranked (#4) Braunschweig. Cooks was the top scorer with 24 points. He also added 7 rebounds in 32 minutes; quite an impressive performance considering it's only Cooks' first season in pro basketball. It's Cooks' first year with the team. He has relatively good stats this season 10.8ppg, 5.8rpg, 1.7apg and 1.1spg in 20 games he played so far.

   #2. Experienced Michael Jenkins (6'4''-SG-86, graduated '08, plays in Kazakhstan) led his Kazakhstan team Astana to a 3-point victory over the closely-ranked Unics Kazan (14-4) 98-95 in the VTB United League on Saturday night. Jenkins was MVP of the game. He scored 24 points and added 4 passes (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). BK Astana (12-6) is placed fifth in the VTB United League. It was his team's fifth consecutive victory in a row. There are only two games left until the end of the VTB United League Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Jenkins' first season with the team. Jenkins has relatively good stats this year 13.4ppg, 2.4rpg and 3.5apg.

   #3. Keon Moore (6'5''-G/F-92, graduated '15, currently in Switzerland), who plays in the Swiss SBL was not able to help Massagno (2-3) in their last game. Despite Moore's very good performance Massagno lost 76-84 on the opponent's court to the lower-ranked (#7) Boncourt. He was the second best scorer with 25 points. Moore also added 4 rebounds and dished 3 assists in 39 minutes. It was Massagno's third consecutive loss in a row. His team will play only one more game in the Regular Season. And now that game is very crucial. Moore has relatively good stats this year 12.9ppg, 2.7rpg, 2.3apg and 1.4spg in 18 games.

   #4. George Valentine (6'8''-F/C-88, graduated '12, plays pro in Argentina) contributed to Hindu's victory against the sixth-ranked Tiro Federal (7-24) 86-80 in the Argentinian La Liga Argentina (second division) last Friday. Valentine recorded 8 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Hindu Club de Resistencia Chaco (21-10) is placed first in North - North group. This season Valentine averages 8.2ppg, 7.1rpg and 1.3apg.

   #5. Jimmy Gavin (6'3''-G-91, graduated '16, plays in Russia) led Burevestnik to a victory against the 14th-ranked Kupol-Rodniki (7-19) 75-62 in the Russian Superleague (second division) on Tuesday night. Gavin scored 11 points and added 4 assists in 25 minutes. BK Burevestnik Yaroslav (15-12) is placed fifth in the Superleague. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be important. Gavin has relatively good stats this year 10.4ppg, 1.6rpg and 2.9apg in 16 games.
