Best performed former University of North Carolina players in pro basketball in last week games

Traditionally, every week we bring you a list of the top former Tar Heels players who continue their career in pro basketball.


   #1. Ty Lawson (5'11''-PG-87, graduated '09, plays pro in China) could not help Shandong Golden Stars (24-19) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Shandong Golden Stars lost 125-129 on the road to the much lower-ranked (#15) Eagles. Lawson had a double-double by scoring 33 points and making 12 passes. He also added and 4 steals in 37 minutes. It was Shandong Golden Stars' first loss after five consecutive victories. There are only three games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. It's Lawson's first season with the team. Lawson has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages 25.7ppg, 4.3rpg, 9.3apg and 1.7spg in 19 games he played so far.

   #2. Harrison Barnes (6'8''-F-92, graduated '12, plays in the NBA) was not able to help the Sacramento Kings (32-32) in their last game on Wednesday. Despite his very good performance the Sacramento Kings (32-32) were edged 111-109 in Boston by the Celtics. Barnes was the top scorer with 24 points. He also added 8 rebounds. This season Barnes has very high stats. He averages 13.8ppg, 7.1rpg, 2.1apg and 1.1spg.

   #3. JP Tokoto (6'6''-F-93, graduated '15, currently in Israel) was the major contributor in a Hapoel Eilat's victory against one of league's weakest teams Ironi Nahariya (5-14) 93-75 in the Israeli Winner League in Thursday night's game. Tokoto had a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 12 rebounds (made all of his five free throws) in 33 minutes. Hapoel Eilat (13-7) is placed fourth in the Winner League. There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game is very crucial. Tokoto has relatively good stats this year 14.2ppg, 7.4rpg, 3.3apg and 2.0spg in 20 games. He is a naturalized Cameroonian.

   #4. Experienced Vince Carter (6'6''-G/F-77, graduated '98, plays pro in the NBA) was not able to secure a victory for the Atlanta Hawks (22-44) in their last game on Monday. Despite his very good performance the Atlanta Hawks (22-44) were edged 114-113 in Miami by the Heat. Carter was the top scorer with 21 points. He also added 4 rebounds. It's Carter's first season with the team. Carter has relatively good stats this year 7.1ppg and 2.5rpg.

   #5. Deon Thompson (6'8''-F-88, graduated '10, plays in Lithuania) led his Lithuanian team Zalgiris to an easy victory against one of league's weakest teams Gran Canaria (6-19) crushing them 98-64 in the Euroleague on Thursday night. He recorded 11 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in a mere 19 minutes. B.C. Zalgiris Kaunas (10-15) is placed 12th in the Euroleague. This year Thompson averages 3.3ppg and 1.7rpg in seven games.

   #6. Kennedy Meeks (6'10''-F-95, graduated '17, currently in Japan), who plays in the Japanese B League couldn't help SeaHorses Mikawa (23-19) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Meeks' very good performance the third-placed SeaHorses Mikawa was defeated 93-83 in Yokohama by the lower-ranked Yokohama BC (#6) in the Central group. He recorded a double-double by scoring 21 points and getting 10 rebounds. Meeks also added 6 assists. This season Meeks has very high stats. He averages 15.8ppg, 12.6rpg, 4.9apg and 1.2bpg.

   #7. Justin Jackson (6'8''-F-95, graduated '17, plays pro in the NBA) couldn't help the Dallas Mavericks (27-37) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the Dallas Mavericks lost 123-132 in Washington to the Wizards. Jackson scored 18 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 25 minutes. This year Jackson averages 5.1ppg and 1.4rpg in 11 games.

   #8. Wayne Ellington (6'4''-G-87, graduated '09, plays in the NBA) led Detroit Pistons to an easy victory against the Cleveland Cavaliers crushing them 129-93 in the NBA on Saturday night. He recorded 15 points. Ellington has relatively good stats this season 10.1ppg, 2.4rpg and 1.1apg.

   #9. Marcus Ginyard (6'5''-F/G-87, graduated '10, currently in Poland) contributed to an easy victory against the sixth-ranked MKS Dabrowa Gornicza crushing them 82-62 in the Polish EBL in Sunday night's game. He scored 9 points and added 5 passes in 21 minutes. Ginyard has relatively good stats this year 10.3ppg, 3.3rpg and 1.7apg in three games.

   #10. Reyshawn Terry (6'8''-F-84, graduated '07, plays pro in South Korea) couldn't help Anyang KGC (21-27) in their last game on Thursday. Despite Terry's very good performance Anyang KGC was edged 82-81 in Jeonju by the higher-ranked KCC Egis (#5). He recorded a double-double by scoring 22 points and getting 13 rebounds. This season Terry has very high stats. He averages 19.4ppg, 8.9rpg, 1.3apg and 1.2spg.
